FUEL SYSTEM

Basically, I have not had a chance to diagnose the problem when I purchased the E300d from my brother he told me that he changed the diesel fuel filter, and the car did not start after that, he diagnosed it as being the fuel pump. I am trying to gather information about the system before I go and tinker with it, I am thinking he just let air in the system?????
Thanks for the reply

Your diagnosis is most likely correct and if you did not over fill the filter with fuel before attaching you most likely have air in the system---diesel owners know this and all you you have to do is keep cranking(may take battery recharge) until the air is purged into the cylinders and then the car will finely start. That is another reason why diesel owners never let the car run out of fuel. Well sober ones at least.

Those engines have maze of plastic fuel tubings, that age and leak, so they need replacement about every 10 years.
Whole description with part numbers on benzworld. Look into stickies.
