new style head lights, any one ?

New style headlights for W210, 96-99, is finally out. Any one have it installed yet ? Wonder how the quality of the light is.

I've seen some people bought the set for 2000 - later, and modified & installed it on pre-99 car, the result was okey, not perfect fit thought.

With the headlight now designed specifically for pre-99 model, I think fitment should be as perfect as OEM. I just wonder if the light would be as bright as OEM, and quality of material.

alexbenz,

Looks like you have HID's in yours. How do they work with aftermarket HID's to fit the H7 housing? Is the light pattern good? Where can the 211 style headlights for the 98-99 210 E be purchased?

Prototype version I've seen did not meet the tough standards of DOT.

Same here. Those guys are pretty cool, they suggest that I stop by and check out quality of the lights first, before commit to buying them.
I'll be back in town on Thu, and will get a set from them too.

Price seem to be better than ones on eBay ($420 - 550), save on $50 shipping too !!

No worries...U owe me a BEER tho!!! J/K

Just make sure to post some pics when U get those babies installed...this applies to MBWorld & zam2000 too!

Caution on the aftermarket HID kits, not all are compatible with the projectors & will display the Lamp Defective warning light...so annoying! I know of a local vendor who sells HID kits for MB & BMW applications...PM me if U need the contact info.

nothing for w208 as of yet, i've seen some try to custom make it from other parts of a cl but lighting pattern would be a issue

Will definitly post pics once installed! as far as xenon kits is it the ballasts that are not compatible?. Kits i am interested in use hella ballast which is what benz and bimmers use anyway right? or is it wiring? bulb connectors? so many kits avail on ebay some claim to be plug and play, H7, etc. really want to avoid lamp defective message what a pain in the a$$ had this on for 2 days drove me

will do! Install looks straight forward. I bought w210 information cd from nguyensteve and there is a section that shows the removal of headlight in less than five minutes! of course this is for 96-99 models 00-02 require removal of front bumper

Yup I bought that exact same CD for my car. The installation seems pretty easy after seeing that guy remove the headlights in a couple of mins. lol. I hope putting the new headlights back in is just as easy!

[QUOTE=007]persian or shane, can u post how to remove headlights...[/QUOTE

007 here is my adlib version of the media player tutorial on the w210 information cd

please first note that these instructions are for 96-99 w210 only

First you must remove the lower trim plate located just underneth the head lamp assbly. to do this you will need to remove 2 bolts . 1 bolt is located on the grille/radiator side of the trim piece just behind rubber seal. the second is located between the large and small lamp lenses.

Second you must remove 3 bolts that secure the headlamp assbly to you car. 1 bolt lower right of small lamp lense, 1 bolt bottom center of large lense 1 bolt located top center of large lamp lense aprox 2-3 inches back

finally remove the bulb connectors and pull out the lamp assembly

Hope this helps on scale of one to five this has got to be a 1 or 1 1/2 tops

007 are you going to put a set of projectors on your ride?
