Steering rack leak :(

What's up people... Long time no post! I've been hella busy with work and trying to get a new job

Ok, so I have a problem now... I have an internal leak in my steering rack and I need to replace it. The stealership wants $2,000 including labour. Now, I've looked around and found some other shops that sell aftermarket ones or remanufactured ZF racks. The aftermarket cheap one is like $800 bucks including labour and the remanufactured one is $1,500.

Has anyone ever replaced their rack? Am I really trading off quality if I get the cheap-o one? Thanks for the input, guys!

Was the old rack making noise besides the steering?

What do you mean?

I haven't changed my rack yet. I'm just wondering if i should use the cheap remanufactured rack or the OEM ZF rack.

Do you only have a visible leak, or is it making any noises as well. Just asking becuase my steering system make a groan/ air like surging sound when turning to the right.

Not that busy Davey-boy, lol. The wife's too busy with school and I'm too busy working on the house. I have been talking to Usman and found him a great used R&P from one of my Benz buddies for $350 bucks. They're trying to charge you too much up there Usman. Lemme know and we can probably have my mech. install it too!
