What do you mean good luck with the car? I don't think my speedo was tweeked. I bought mine in 2002 (3 years old at the time, since it was first registered in Jan 1999), with 15k miles - that was already considered low, even in my town where cars average about 6K miles/year. By comparison your's is a real gem! Judging from the condition of the chassis, suspension and brakes, my car did not appear to have its speedo altered. I made sure a thorough check was done before I agreed to buy - a practice I believe will save you a lot of troubles in the long run.
I've not had any major problems with my car but I don't drive a lot or travel long distances, plus I ensure it is serviced at every 5000K Km (3.1K miles). Battery changed after two months of purchase (but that's probably becuase the car was not used too much before I bought it hence the battery went dead beyond recharge) and the usual sparks, air and oil filter, bulbs, shocks, exhaust and brakes changes......then again, most were just excuses for the mods
As a matter of fact, the bad luck was with wheels.....as evidenced by the number changes I'd been thru in the past 2 years...I really did have all the wheels in my sig pic
All in all, I still love the car, but I probably won't buy another Mercedes again. They recently announced that they will not offer free maintenance on 2005 models past 6,000 miles. Mercedes and their dealers make crazy money on service. Some of the work performed on my car was at the highest labor rate - $120.00 per hour!
My car currently has 50,000 miles. So the above repairs were encountered driving a little more than 20,000 miles a year.
