i have little gas left and my gas door isnt opening. the lock switch in the dashboard isnt working as well as in the remote , you need to press the pins each to lock the doors. the power locks switch was working before i got stucked in the flood 2 hours ago. what do i do ?

also a steady red light appeared between the lock and unlock switch. What does that mean ? Thanks

My '97 E 300 D has a way one can open the lock from inside the trunk. If you can get into your trunk there might be a knob on the gas lock near the fuel fill location. In my car you reach across the top of the trunk liner to pull the knob. All that assumes you can get into the trunk.

I'm sorry to say but it sounds like you drove through high flood water levels so now you have water damage to your electrical system and that's the cause of the lock for your gas cap not working. I hope you're able to find a way in to open the lock so that you can at least put gas in your W210.

if the flooding entered the main battery compartment below the rear seat, you must quickly examine the compartment and EVERY SINGLE component. air/wipe dry and spray with contact cleaner (like deoxIT).

the failure of the fuel door is leading me to think that the PSE pump (the brick with the air ports...also under the rear seat) was contaminated as well. you will need to open that up and clean, dry, moisture evacuate. If you don't rust and corrosion to the critical electronics will occur.

the port which puffs air to the trunk and fuel door should be the same and marked "HACK". if you must add fuel to the car, you can CAREFULLY remove the hose and blow a puff of air firmly. the fuel door and truck should open. if your lungs aren't strong enough you can use a baby snot aspirator. it doesnt take much air but i'm guessing like 5#

different PSE pumps have different design and ports so don't presume the one in the OP car is accurate (it is from my 1999 USA E320 sedan)

Opening your fuel door is going to probably be the least of your worries if the car took on some water.

Agreed. Modern cars with all of their electronics aren't meant to be driven through streets with high water levels. I agree with the advise to quickly remove any possible water in the areas where the electronics are located in order to curb any additional damage to the electronics. I hope you can avoid having to call your insurance company to total the car because of massive damage to the electronics that'll render the car inoperable and cost more to fix than the car is likely worth. Hoping for the best for you and your W210.
