center switches w w/o trunk

so a buddy of mine sent me this center switch assy for a e320 sedan)
but i have wagon

what say you guys about me cutting off the trunk switch top cover so it fits?? think the wiring/plugs will still all work
my gut says yes

or plan B.... maybe someone has a switch assy for an estate that is ion need for one from a sedan??

but i hate ruining stuff, but i dont want to buy another one.
but to get it to fit, i would have to remove the top part of that trunk switch

Does the trunk switch not unsnap and come out for replacement like the window switches do?

Edit: I might be thinking of the switches up above the heater controls. It's been a while since I've had my console apart.

i tried gingerly to pull/snap off, but i dont want to force it..

looks like there are some really tiny small allen set screws that keep the assembly together --so i wonder if i couldnt just tear down and replace just the switch device itself, as opposed to the whole assembly.

This link shows some pictures of the trunk switch all by itself. I'm guessing it can be removed. It looks very similar to the other dash switches (like ASR, tow switch, etc) with the exact same tabs on each end that you can squeeze to release them.
