Mike,

looks like an awesome job. AM thinking of a brake upgrademyself, but just wondering how's the car driving and stopping now, what kind of pads are you using now?

Update

Just to update everyone. I now have 800 miles on the new brakes and let me tell you....they are sweet! NO NOISE, stops better now that they are broken in, and looks 200% better. One plus is that the rotors all still have that new cadmium-plating look and NO RUST. I am very happy. Needed brakes anyway and did all 4 corners for $900 including labor.

I am using Axxis Deluxe PLUS pads and couldn't be happier. Have always used the Axxis/PBR/Repco line and have never had any problems.

Another update

Seems like there has been a lot of interest in brake upgrades. Just to update everyone....I now have over 1100 miles on brake job and still no dust, no rust, no noise, stopping power is awesome, and they look fabulous!

Good to hear your brake upgrade has been a success!

I've got about 1500 miles or so on the C32 brakes and all I can say is I wish this car had this from the beginning. The brake feel is outstanding. Time for some stainless brake lines to get that last 10% improvement!

Initially, before the pads/rotors were broken in, the brakes felt wooden and useless. Was disappointed since it felt no better than stock.

After we put some mileage on the car, the brakes really have become very very responsive. Very happy with the upgrade and suggest that you either go Mikey's route or if you have the larger wheels, go for the C32 brakes...

Happy Holidays everyone,

-travis

PS. MikeyE430, did you get the shift knob from Steve as well? Looks like a real nice match with your steering wheel.

No, got that a while back at Performance Products. Got the "Sport" insert as well. Both the steering wheel and shift knob are Ash leather and Burled Walnut to match my interior. THANKS!

Very Nice!

I wish I could do that too.
I have the monoblock II and they don't really show through so I can't justify spending extra money on something I can't see.

Wow those look great! Now for the E320 and E430, were the OEM brakes the same from 1998-2002?

Those lines can be purchased directly through StopTech or any of our distributors.

Without re-reading the entire thread, I'd say the cost was worth it. What was the total? Around $800 for parts all around? I paid that much for a front replacement of rotors and pads for OEM parts (by a local shop), and the crap is warped and squeeking after 1 year.

Now I need Mikey to come over and help me do the install. What do you say Mikey? Nice bottle of scotch?

New Update

OK, after 3000 miles on the brakes, here are my current findings:

1) Still no noise at all.
2) Virtually no visible brake dust.
3) Rotors still look wonderful with no rust.
4) Stopping power: On the freeway off-ramp yesterday, a van slowed suddenly in front of me. I hit the brakes with a bit normal-than-usual force, and without even getting into the ABS, the car just clamped down and stopped. The car behind me had to swerve to miss me. This is the first time I can honestly say, this setup stops way quicker, firmer, and better than stock. You just gotta hope the doofus behind you either has quick reflexes or ABS.

To answer the question again: what did it cost me?......all parts, labor, fluid, everything was $900 complete out the door.

Mickey, were you the labor or did a shop do the install? I forget.

The labor was done by some local guys here at Euro Sport Auto Center. The total cost of everything was $900. As far as the Scotch.....I would prefer some Maker's Mark Kentucky Bourbon.
