power windows
I have a 1999 E430 34k miles. Just recently my passenger window does not closed correctly. The window will go down easily ( probably gravity) but window will not close normally. What I mean is that the window will inch up a little and stop. I would have to engage the window switch again and it would inch up a little and stop. Depending on how far I have the window down ,the number of times I have to engage the window switch would vary from 10 to 50 times. I am assuming that I need to replace the motor.$$$$$
Any suggestion would be helpful.

Don't try to close the windows in that manner any more if you can, otherwise you'll burn out the motor. There's a chance you can salvage the motor if you haven't done it too much. What's probably needed are new rails but if you've had this problem for a while, chances are the motor will need changing too....the exact same thing happened to me

What's may have happened is that your car lost power and the window positons sensors don't know where the windows are.
The window buttons have 2 positions. Half way and all the way. All the Way moves the window automatically to the top or bottom. On my 2000 I can feel the indent in the button as I push it down.
What you need to do is just simply press the button half way down, and lower the window all the way to the bottom. Press the Up button half way down and raise the window to the top. Do this again for that window. This resets the window position sensor and then the window knows where it is and everything works normally. Do it again for any window you are having problems with. Also for the sunroof if you are having problems with that.
Let's hope it's just the sensor.

Cahnge the motors
If you have an extended warranty it's normally covered minus your deductible.
Both back window motors went out this year & I had them replaced.
The window regulator(motor) & window lift were a little over $200 to replace for each window.
I used those windows maybe once or twice a year, that's probably why the motors got stale and died.
The battery could also be a contributor.

Nothing severe, you window is out of sync because you have disconnected the power for more than 5 minutes.
If you have a manual, it does show steps to resync the window. Basically, get it lower all the way, then press the up button halfway until the windows start moving up smoothly, hold it for something like 20 seconds.
If you need more, I'll scan the manual for you.
