Bent Rim opinions w/photos

Hello Everybody,

I have a problem with one of my 16” Alessio aluminum rims. The rim is bent on the inside lip and won’t hold a bead.

Prior to just recently, the rim/tire was fine, in fact I put 20K miles on it. I decided to take my car back to Big-O tires and have all the rims/tires balanced and rotated since I knew one of the front rims was out of balance and created a wobble at 55mph. The next day I got a flat on the freeway and upon returning to Big-O, they disclosed the tire had gone flat the day before and they reset it using some type of sealer, which obviously didn’t work. The flat smoked the tire and they actually had the nerve to ask that I buy a new one. FAT CHANCE I told them, and they gave me a new tire. At that time we also inspected the rim and discussed the “flat spot” (bend), and decided to give it a try with the new tire.

The new tire held air for about 1K, but went flat.

And to top it off, the front tires/rims are again out of balance and I have even a worse wobble at 60mph. Needless to say, I’m done with the clowns at Big-O.

I really like the looks of the rims and would like to keep them.

Does this rim look like it can be fixed, and if so, any suggestions on where to take it?

I’m pretty open to most any place in So Cal, but preferably in the 909.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Alex

What can anybody tell me about Alessio rims - junk or quality? Be honest, I'm looking for straight answers.

The guys at Big-O said they are junk and were surprised to see them on a Benz, and that Alessio is out of business. My bro was the original owner of the car and they were added as an upgrade at the time of new purchase from Caliber in Anaheim.

I think they are great looking rims, although I wish they were 17 or 18's.

Any thoughts?

Your damage does not look beyond repair. I think you can get the wheel fixed. Unfortunately I do not remember the wheel repair shop I went to in the San Fernando valley but they did excellent work repairing an Enkei wheel I had. It honestly looked brand new once they were done with it.

Look in the back of some car magazine like Car & Driver or Road & Track. The reputable companies usually advertise in them.

I'm not familiar with your wheels but I have been told the italian wheels are typically very soft (even the other more famous brands), hence bend easily. If you're required to travel on rough roads alot, suggest getting wheels with TUV approval, even if the wheel is repairable.

But if you're looking for an excuse to upgrade, now would be the time. If I were you, I would hit up Alex for a killer quote on some new shoes and then just repair your bent wheel and sell your current set to help pay for some of the new ones, hehehe...

lol, get it then.....but in reality, isn't the offense "having" too dark a tint, meaning at anytime up until you remove it, so technically, regardless of whether you remove it right away, they can still book you - does anyone know why that law was put in there in the first place? To stop people from making out in the car during the day????
