I hope you experts can help with this one

Hello, I have the 2001 E320 model. The car was in the body shop for a minor accident. A piece in the rear drivers side door needs to be replaced. The door can not open and close without it. My body shop has contacted Benz dealers across the nation and said they even tried Europe and can not find the pieve I need anywhere. I am having trouble finding it also. I am hoping some of you experts here can help me track it down. I am wondering if it may have a different part number in other parts of the world or if it is compatible with another part number from another year. Or heck, even another part from any other vcar any year? Please send me in the right direction. In the photos, it is the black line. These are the best photos they gave me. In the diagram it is number 11. The part number is 210-760-02-04

What's the nature of the damage to the part #11? Is it bent or did it break? It appears to be nothing more than a circular rod with a couple bends in it. You should be able to find a machine shop somewhere that can fabricate a replacement part, or check some salvage yards.

Thanks for the reply. actually, the body shop put the car back together so I never saw it with my own eyes. It looks like one end has a bunch of wire that is frayed. Kind of like the wire inside that would be on a choke of a lawn mower or something. The other problem is I do not know the actual name of this part so it is difficult to look up in salvage yards and junkyards that want the part name

Flexible steel cable in a black flexible outer sheath. Cable connects the interior door handle to the door latch mechanism. Hook at each end IIRC. The metal rod connects the door latch lock mechanism to the interior lock pull/push button.
Any W210 cable should fit.

You might try taking the original to a bicycle shop and see if they can fashion one from a bike brake cable.

I would think any LKQ bone-yard with a W210 in it would have this. You would need to open up the door assembly yourself as they will not have it on the shelf ready to hand you.
