As far as which car I like better, definitely the diesel. 157k and running like brand new. Absolutely no issues at all. I have a 7" lcd screen Panasonic DVD/TV/mp3 player w/ipod hook-up which makes the ride a lot more enjoyable. I may get some 17s for one of the cars. Not sure yet...
Only drawback is the 138 hp. I wish I had more power, but besides that I can't complain. Looking back, I should have probably gone with the TD.

There you have it folks from a person that owns both a diesel and a gasser.
Don't worry about the lack of horsepower; It's the torque that you should be interested in!
What does yours have, about 155 ft/lb?
Imagine only 174 horsepower, but 244 ft/lb of torque and another gear, and that what the '98 and '99s have.
And if you go to the current 2005 E-320 CDI with 201 HP and 369 (yes 369) ft/lb.
That's 30 ft/lb more than the E-500 V8! Those CDIs simply do not know what a grade is!
I hear that the new V6 diesel that is coming out and maybe out already for all I know.
It has 224 hp and over 376 ft/lb and will be equipped with the new 7 speed automatic.
They had to do that I guess so the diesel would continue beating the new E-350 gassers
same as the 320 CDI is quicker than the current E-320 gasser.
Power, speed and economy, now who could ask for anything more?
Plus piece and quiet of course. He He :p
cant we all get along?????

One wonders what kind of song and dance routine he'll have after
he's lodged in the big house for messing with those children.
'Course, the authorities will have to seperate him from the general population.

i got a 1998 Mercedes E300TD and the BAS/ASR light keeps turning ON. In the center of the Dashboard, only the BAS is displayed. I have read on other forums that the brake light switch might be the problem or the voltage on the battery is low. That's not the case with my car. The BAS light only comes on when the outside temperature is below -1 degrees celsius and after a 5 minute drive. Even when it's extremely cold and i restart the car, the BAS light still comes on. I also noted that the engine's output performance is limited. When it's warm outside, the BAS never comes on. Please help me out guys.

You could pull it and test it but by the time you did that you could have replaced it

Hi,
thx for your reply. The brake light switch seems to work when it's warm but as soon as the temperatures hit low, the BAS light comes on. Is it really the BLS or could it be something else?
