door dings intentional?
Saturday night at a friends party the subject of door dings came up. I was shocked to find out that many people admitted to intentionally dinging the doors of cars such as Lexus, MB, and BMW. Several of the discussion participants say they especially go for the ones parked at the end of parking lots, or parked parallel to avoid someone parking next to them.
Just when I thought the conversation couldn't deteriorate any further - a Lexus driver admitted he intentionally bangs BMW or MB cars every chance he gets.
This party was given by an Editor who is married to a Financial Broker, the guests were all pretty much in either of these fields and you would think above petty, childish, and financially irresponsible motives. I guess you could call them "educated fools."

That's very disturbing news, but it takes some of the mystery out of how they still occur despite trying to be careful. I can't even imagine hitting someone's door, regardless of it being a luxury car or not. It's amazing what some people will do just because they think nobody is looking. If the people at the party show such flagrant disregard for other people's property, how can they be trusted with someone's money (the financial folks) or someone's integrity and reputation (the editor). Hmmm...

Move up here to NY. It's really not as bad as they say. I had a ML for 3 years, 36K miles, not a single door ding. a 560SL w/55K miles in 9 years, not one either. And...you really have no choice but to park in tight spots anyway. Now bumpers is another story...what we don't get on the sides, we sure get at the ends. We're careful with the doors but horrible at parallel parking...

Man, I get dings just from my three little lovely rascals going crazy on my driiveway everyday after school. So, when I got my wife the black 430 last summer, we all sat down and listened to Daddy - no one, and I mean no one plays near the E!! So far so good, except that the started with the leather sits inside - I promptly got the seat cover, it worked. Problem now is that my darling wife parks under a tree all day at work - tree sap is driving me nuts. Any tips on dealing with this besides constantly washing the car???

The wax and coating creates a film that prevents the sap from sticking to the paint itself so that it comes off with just some water spray... very nice.

What seat cover? did I miss something? is there a seat cover specifically for the E class? is it attractive, or merely functional? Is it leather? My 2 year old grandson has no respect for my vehicles seats. He steps from his car seat directly onto the leather, and leaves his "NIKE" logo embedded.
