I get a lot of attention, but from mostly a younger crowd(probably because of the rims and because I am 23.) I take pride in what I own so I guess I like the attention, but not in a way that I want to be treated differently because of my car.

No attention. None that I notice. Course, the E is stock so it blends in with all the other ones. I think a lot of it depends on where you live. Stock E320s are nothing and plentiful. Even AMGs are plentiful around here. You only get some attention if you're in a Bentley Continental Coupe or something. Regular Bentley sedans and Ferraris are common too so to be truly noticed, you need something brand new and really unique like the Aston Martin DB9 I saw a couple days ago.

Not all of SoCal is like that. I just happen to live near the LA Sports Club. Some super trendy gym. Celebrities like to go there. They have freaking valet parking for a gym. Always some super nice exotic parked outside.

I don't really think its just the mere fact that its an E class that people stare. In my area there are lots of E classes (mostly 320's and mostly older people). Sure its part of the reason but if people see that its a 500, with a young attractive person driving in it, then they have the tendancy to stare. It sparks the curiousity in a person, when they see a young person driving a 65,000 car they begin to wonder. I think its the person driving the car that makes people stare.

I get lots of positive comments on the exterior color than on the car itself.

Most people don't know the difference in the badging, let alone the differential in price, IMO!

E200 Kompressor (sold 2008), BMW 7 series (2009), now waiting for the E63
No looks, no stares here. On Singapore roads, the majority of cars are under 5 years old (mainly because after 10 years old, your car gets scraped, regardless of whether it's still in good shape or not - long story).

And, the majority of "luxury" cars are E-classes ... so, no biggie. At any one time at the lights, you might end up side by side with another E and an S, and a traffic camera peering down at you, so you can forget about flooring it.

What more, some cabs here are Ablaster-White E-classes ...

So, no attention ... no sirree, and that's the way I like it.

There are a lot of E-Classes in the SF Bay Area, but there is a lot of everything. There are also a lot of Porsches in the Bay, but I still get way more looks in the 993.

Real Cars
The amount of attention greatly depends on how clean the car is. When my car is clean the attention level escalates dramatically. I also know for a fact that having really dark tinted windows also seems to remove people's inhibitions to stare as they don't know you see them staring - because I've had cars before and after and it can be kind of funny sometimes. People can't see what I look like or anything so my age doesn't really play into how much attention I get I don't think...

Overall though, I don't think it gets that much attention, compared to other cars I've owned and been in - but that's all relative. It depends on where you are really... what you are driving in front of, passing by, what neighborhood, time of day, etc. Sometimes it can get a bit ridiculous but it doesn't bother me nor do I pay much attention. That's why I have the tinted windows. I didn't buy this car to relish in it's attention, although sometimes it can give you a nice feeling of accomplishment and pride. For me, it's when I mash the pedal next to some unsuspecting person next to me and they finally catch up with a face of bewilderment that I really know why I bought this car...

Whatever there's gas in...
I let my son drive my S55 to school one day and he got followed home by the police, thats unwanted attention! Oh well, I guess it comes with the territory?
