For those of you with a V-1, buy the Savvy adapter from Valentine,
It plugs into the OBD port. Takes minutes to install and works great and doesn't interfere with other OBD functions. You can also set it to eliminate false alarms. Roughly $70. It was a no-brainer for me.

Question

I'd like to hardwire a dashcam in my 08 E350.

I remember not finding any ignition on only fuses in the interior fusebox on the left end of the dashboard.

The cig lighter sounds like a great option.

Are the cigarette lighter wires easily traced from the back of console? Near the floor perhaps?

I'm on travel so I cannot check it myself.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

I think I'll just tap off one of the switched fuses in the underhood fusebox. Just need to fish the wires through the firewall.

Since I’m not a fan of tapping into original harnesses by pinching, cutting or soldering I would look for a connector that is in your SAM Driver which has available switched and fuse protected power pin holes available. Then buy the appropriate MQS bushing, crimp the cables and plug it into the connector.

Electrical diagrams are available in WIS.

buy the correct MQS bushings and

Aloha Mackhack,

Sorry if my post seemed to suggest that I was going to cut into the vehicle wiring.

I also prefer not to do that ... last resort actually.

I am going to use an Add a Fuse dongle to fuse #54a (ignition switched I think) for the ACC connection. I'll probably use 54a for the constant power.

I need to hardwire vs. the simple cig lighter socket to make use of the dashcam parking feature.

It's too bad the Motopark hardwire kit seems to have been discontinued since it simplifies the install for cars like MBs and other German cars with no interior switched fuses.

Mahalo.

54a/b is the cigarette lighter switched or unstitched depending where you put the fuse in.

Thanks Mackhack.

I seem to have been keyboard challenged yesterday. :-)

Will use 53 and 54 with one set to switched and the other not.

I noticed from the thread below that fuses F49 and F50 are ignition switched but don't say what they are for.
Does that mean they are simply "spares" that one can connect to for accessories?

Thanks.

These charts are all wrong. I never cared too much for them, I do t know who made them up.

f49 is terminal 15R, Control module ARMADA, passenger seat occupation recognition, protected with a 7.5A fuse
f50 is terminal 15R, Cell phone, Vehicle Information and Communication System (VICS, Japan only), protected with a 5A fuse
