iPod integration for E-class: guinea pig needed
Anyone in the SF Bay Area want to be the guinea pig for an iPod installation?
Here's what you get:
A standard Mercedes iPod interface so you can plug in your dock-enabled iPod in your glovebox. You'll be able to control the iPod through your steering wheel controls and view the information in the instrument cluster. If your iPod is older than a few months, you may need to perform a firmware upgrade. All of it is installed for the price of the interface only ($299 + tax).
Here's what you provide:
A 2005 (code 805) W211 (E-class) in the SF Bay Area. I get to try and install the kit for a few hours. If the installation all goes well, you can keep the installed kit for the price of the kit. If it ends up not working, I will return your car exactly as it came in and when the "official" kit is available, you can get one of those installed from us for free.
If your car is an "old" 2005, it may not have the necessary support for the iPod kit; this will be apparent to me before we start.
If you're interested, please e-mail me. If this works out, we'll be able to provide the kits to everyone.

Don't BOTH of you guys have... 2004 cars?! That solution comes AFTER the 2005 car is working.

I am in So Cal, however, I have a 2005 (code 805) W211 (E-class), and you are scheduled to do a stardiagnose lowering on my car when you come to So Cal, so you could kill two birds with one stone.
As a side note, my company does high end residential system integration (www.avisions.com) and we have integrated iPods into whole house music systems, so I could certainly provide feedback on the quality of the product and how well it integrates.

It is OK, but only for a limited period while scorchie solve the Ipod challenge. Be prepared to bring some money, as Norway is the most expensive country in the world to live in, according to UN. And do not buy a moderate E-class while it lasts, unless you have 150.000 green backs in a drawer.

Went to dealer for routine service. I asked about the Ipod attachement for the w211. He had no idea what I was talking about then remarked why I would want to get on the internet. This guy services my car. I really think some of these dealers hire who ever jumps off the short bus.
