Engine mysteriously shuts off!!!
I have an 04 E320 with 14k miles on it, Saturday night around 12 midnight the engine shuts off in stop and go traffic and could not be started. I called roadside assistance and they sent out a tow truck which took about an hour to arrive. Right before the hour was up I was able to start the engine and drove the car for about 10 minutes before it shut off again. Can anyone explain to me why a brand new benz would shut off like a 20 year old peugot? Right now the car is at mercedez benz of Manhattan and no one will even look at it until tomorrow morning. With an emergency like this you would think that the service department would at least take a look at it the same day they received it. This **** is COMPLETELY unacceptable, i would like to take legal action if possible.

I was originally thinking vapor lock, unitl you said Manhattan. I can't see vapor lock this time of year in NY.
On another note, legal action? For what? You gonna sue because you car broke down? You have to relax, this stuff happnes. Who you want to take action against? The dealer? Why, because they wouldn't look at your car on Sunday? Mercedes? Because not every car they build is perfect? Man, you are way too uptight. Your not related to that lady that sued Mcdonald's because the coffee was too hot, are you?

Sorry to hear about your car. That would pi$$ me off too. But if you've been paying attention to this board - the W211 isn't exactly what I would call the most reliable car in the world.
Part of the ownership "experience", I'm afraid.
Good luck on getting your car back to working condition - hopefully it isn't anything serious. Had you suffered an accident because of some failure of the car then I could see calling an attorney. Otherwise - let's hope your service department is competent.

You seriously need to chill. Yeah, I would be pissed off too if my car shut down on me, but acting like a prima donna isn't going to get your car fixed in one day, especially on a Sunday. Get real!

Spubar: "Technicians", i.e., people I want looking at my car, don't do the oil changes and tire swaps on Saturdays as Ryda suggested. I doubt they had anyone working, or maybe only one guy who may have been tied up, who could really assess your car. Saturday at most dealerships competes with Jiffy Lube, not with the factory service shops.
