'05 E320--How did I do?
Hi all,
New to this forum. Just bought a new '05 E320 with Appearance Package, Premium Package and Heated Seats. Got it for $6000 off of MSRP. Worked out to a 10.5% discount off MSRP.
I'm thinking I did pretty well.....what do you experts think? I'm in Sacramento, CA area.
On another note, I drove the E320 and '06 E350 before buying. Got a steeper discount on the loaded E320 than I could have on the E350. Certainly less powerful than the 350, but I DIDN'T LIKE the 7 speed transmission on the E350. I thought it was too busy and always shifting! I decided to forego the new engine and transmission and save the money to get the loaded E320.
Have any of you driven both? Similar or differing opinions?

I had the old E320 and I must say this new E350 performs remarkably well over the E320. I dont think its hunting for the right gear at all, instead its more refined if anything, smoother shifts, excellent torque and hp, and incredible fuel economy, got 29mpg when I came to Northern California yesterday. This 7 speed has made me a winner, and I wish my E55 had the 7 speed. The day AMG can create a beefed up 7G-Tronic for the E55 I will buy one for sure. Until then the E350 will do.

I got a little over $8k off of sticker on the same setup as yours minus the heated seats (never used them in my CLK) back in November of last year. I would think with the 350's out now you'd be able to work them down a lot more. Good deal nonetheless...congrats!

Now, if we all could get that kind of "employee discount" we would trade the car in more often. I recieve a "prefered vendor discount" from DC but that is only applicable to Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep excluding Vipers. I hope some day to have the discount applied across all DC vehicles.

Agreed. As I read the invoice posted graphically above, when you add in my Appearance Package, it appears I got the care for significantly below invoice. I figure they didn't make much on me...if anything, given their holdback.
Perhaps I could have done a bit better, but not much.
