Dead pedal- Anyone have progress in locating one?

I, like many here, would really like to see some sort of dead pedal to protect the carpeted one which seems to act pretty much as a dirt attractant. There were a few threads here awhile back, but I didn't see any resolution. I saw a few items on "Formymercedes.com", but still want to see what else is out there.
Anyone??

How does the dead pedal fasten to the carpet?

Also, how do you like it so far? Easier to keep clean?

My dead pedal is mounted with 2 screws. I heard there were some wires beneath the footrest, but when I pried the carpet off mine, all I saw was dense foam. I love my pedals so far. Have them on my car for more than a year and haven't wiped/cleaned them since installation. Still in mint condition.

Good picture, but are the black vertical ribs rubber strips that stand out from the metal, or are they just black-painted indents in the metal? A wet shoe would be less likely to slip on the former than the latter.

I purchased the European carpeted floor mats, they're not the dense carpeted ones that came with the car. The European mats cover the dead pedal. I also have the ones that came with the car and they also cover the dead pedal. Not sure why the ones you get from the US stealers don't.
