E55 Brakes on a E500??
I guess I will need the rotors, calipers, pads, and brake lines. My mechanic will install the parts. Thanks in advance.
droppedW211: I would do it just for the looks and am planning to do it. If you are interested in performance gain, consider the new EVOSPORT drilled / slotted 2-piece brake disc upgrade. At least those have correct cooling slots, unlike the stock AMG rotors where one side the cooling slots are installed in reverse, plus they are almost 100lbs (total) lighter than stock rotors. Lower unsprung weight = better performance

Whether you should spend thousands of dollars to change the look of your brakes is your business - unless a failure of that critical system causes an accident. Then it's not just your business any more.
The parts are direct swap and in ROW those brakes are offered as factory AMG upgrades. In the US of A, any lawyer can sue anything they want, no matter what.

See this thread for an actual picture of the rotors.

I know they sell these at good price. They also have customers who replaced E55 brakes with bigger Brembo brakes and you might be able to find some used ones cheap.

Instead of getting the E55 brake setup, why don't you get the Brembo brake kit. Its probably better than the E55 setup, since the bremo's will be made for the E500, instead of trying to get an E55 setup to fit on an E500. You'll most likely end up paying less for these aftermarket brakes versus paying a dealer to buy the E55 brake set.
BTW, "dropped" you mentioned that you are rolling on 20"s. I am considering putting 20's on my E500 as well, what kind of wheels are you on? Do you have any issue of rubbing or any other problems?

I Did The Wifes 06 W211 Installed the AMG E55 Brakes ...on the front the spindles must be changed or remove them and drill the caliper mounting holes as the NON AMG Cars do NOT have the correct size holes in the spindles for the AMG Caliper bolts...The Bolts have a LARGER DIA Shoulder on them
Btw I Will Be selling the LARGE Front Brakes Calipers/rotors/pads with 7K on them (AMG) to Install a set of the 030 LARGER front AMG Brakes on the wifes car PM If Interested

Yes I Did The Work myself...Its Not that hard..With The Correct Tools!
One Can bleed the brakes without using the star....Just cycle the sbc pump...
Open a door or pump the brake pedal to cycle the pump....Used OE MB Brake fluid
I Checked for any codes and None were found

Mark,
Thanks for the info, I sent you a PM
DTB P-B-42.46/46c SBC Bleeding Procedure AUG05
If the brake system has been opened, then the brakes must be bled and checked for air using STAR Diagnosis “Bleed Brake System” and “Inspect Brake System for Air” functions before brake system is activated again. Failure to do so can lead to malfunctions of the brake system. The specialized brake bleeding procedure of the SBC system requires that specific Service Equipment and/or Special Tools be used in order to effectively bleed the SBC system.
