Exclamation Should i order the E350 now or next year????

I am planning to order a new E350 W211 within this few months. Should i wait for the facelift? Regarding the big changes in the next model. Should i order on mid 06 rather than order it now?

Just wait a few months and see what kind of changes are made. But if your dealer is going to give you a nice upfront discount right now on the price of the car then I would most likely buy it right now. I personally think the bumper and a few other cosmetic items are going to change and nothing more than that.

Personally, I would wait until the SBC brakes are replaced which hopefully will be next year along with the face lift. I hope to get one myself to replace my 06 E350 which is the best car I have ever had although I still have mixed feelings about the brakes but they feel much better than those on my 04 E500. If they go to direct hydraulic master cylinder operation I will be a completely happy camper.

1) Why did you switch from an E500 to an E350
2) Any thoughts as to how/why the brakes are different when they "should", at least in theory, be the same? I wonder if software updates could have done the same.

I think the brakes have simply been refined with siftware or hardware changes that I'm not aware of.. The current ones feel much more normal than the earlier ones.
My switch from the E500 is a little complicated, First, I switched to the E320 CDI to get the performance and great fuel economy. I had some issues with the CDI so I switched to the E350.

If the new 5.5L N/A motor proves to be kicking some nice butts, I could trade mine in for that. I'm planning to keep mine for around 7-8 years, so a newer engine would be better.

jeeees...i am in the same situation...i have a e320 03 and am very tempted to buy a 04 500 which wont be much difference in price between what i should get for mine and the price of 04 e500...but then i read the reviews about the 350 and think i go with that considering gas mileage, and then i worry about the facelift changes.
MB-JIM please share your feelings between the real world diff. and practicalities of the 350 and 500.
b.t.w i have no problem with the brakes and having owned some porsches and m3 bmw's and this cars brakes is the best i have experienced.

Curious what issues you had with the CDI?

The only Info that's been published is that the new brakes will be on the 2009 W212 which will be available in 2008.

It's very, very, unlikely that a major engineering change (SBC) is unlikely to occur during a "facelift" ... I can see chrome, or minor changes to instrument cluster (color/texture), but not mechanical stuff... but I could be wrong.
