E350 = 4 pot front brakes?

In the MBUSA specifications it states that E350 should have 17x8 wheels standard and I read on another thread that someone noticed their E350 has different brakes than the E320 CDI.

So I believe that the E350 has 4 pot brakes even though website states it only comes with single piston floating calipers.

I was just reading the Car and Driver review of the E350 and i noticed that they have 16" wheels on their car. I thought that the 16" wheels will not fit over the 4 pot calipers.

So.. anyone have the conclusive answer?

Thanks.

In Europe, the E320CDi estate has the 4 pot calipers. Mine has standard 16" wheels over them - so they do fit in a 16" wheel.

E-350 with appearance has 4 piston brake calipers

I can confirm that my E350 with appearance package (avantgarde with DC Airmatic and 17" 5 spoke alloys) has 4 piston caliper front brakes (see picture below, they have Mercedes written on them), however without this package I am not sure? E350 owners without appearance, let us know what you have.

E350W 2wd models have the front 4 piston brembo brakes. At launch, the car had 16" wheels and since June production has changed to 17". So therefore, the 16" wheels do in fact fit over the 4 piston brakes. 4matic models have a different front braking system.

does anyone know if those 4-piston brakes can be retro-fited into a '05 CDI? They look really nice compared to the generic calipers on the car from the factory.

I was told $300/ea from the dealer, but the service guy didn't seem to know if they fit in place of the current calipers.

Well spotted.... , my car has actually the same side skirts as yours, however the digital pics I have are "to big" to be attached. So to make the point (4 piston caliper with Mercedes Benz written on it), I borrowed the pic from the following excellent site:

www.fan-gallerie.de

All in all, I could not be bothered to go outside again and take lower resolution pics.

Not correct, only MY06 E350 since June production have the 17x8 inch wheels which were previously used on the E500. Prior to June production, all MY06 E350 had 16" wheels which are still used on the diesel.

not the one I bought for my mom in June, with a Apr build date.. that came with the 16" that are on my CDI. But it did have the 4-pot brakes.
