Thumbs up Just greenfiltered my E500.

Throttle response is markedly improved. Not even a thousand miles on it, but the ECM seems to have adapted nicely to the more aggressive driver inputs. This is a must do modification, IMHO.

Nice....I had to get rid of my high flow airfilters as it blew a MAF on the W211.

I honestly don't know why Mercedes doesn't do this filter on stock cars!

I'm not trying to say this in a mean way, but you're just another one who has had nothing but praise for Greenfilters!

Does this require that you change one or both filters? I have an '05 E320 and from what I understand, there are two filters. Help?

Also, do you think it's worth doing on an E320? Will I feel an increase in responsiveness?

Thanks.

Ricky,

Thanks for the link. I can get the filters cheaper elsewhere. Are both filters the same? Green Filter number for the E320, far as I can tell, is part number 2247.

Do you have to put on oil on these filters? I just don't want a problem with the MAFS.

They come lightly oiled and seal much better than K&Ns. They have been shown not to foul the the hot wire in the MAF like K&Ns in other german vehicle applications.

These flow so well, you are bound to notice the throttle response and the increased subtle intake growl and you do need two.

I am ticked off that they don't have them for the CDI... I emailed them and they first came back and said yes, that there were two filters, then they re-read my email and noticed it was a CDI and said they did'nt make them. Ticks me off! They're really supposed to work great.

Try K&N's website and use the cross reference tool. I then took the K&N number and crossed the number at greenfiltersUSA. They didn't list them for the E500 there, but I found the greenfilter number for a matching filter and ordered those. It may be worth a shot.

Can you PM me the place where you get them cheaper at? I'm interested if you don't mind

Ricky,

You have a PM.

I still can't decide whether to do this or not....don't want to mess up the MAFS by replacing stock filters, and am not sure whether it will foul things up.

I responded back to your PM. Thanks for the heads up! I'll look into it.

I say go for it. You can always clean out your MAF (not suggested for those weak of heart... )

As far as I know, no one has reported problems with the Greenfilters, however I have heard of problems with K&N's.

Ricky,

Prices are about $42 at the second site.

For others out there, here are two sites that seem to have pretty good prices on the Green Filters.

Thanks, turns out K&N doesn't make one either. My best bet is to find ifa German firm makes a good after market filter, the Diesels are a plenty in the EU.

I heard back from Green Filter's customer service. The E320 gas version takes two of the part number 2247 filters.

Regards,

If these filters are so great then why aren't they std from the factory? Also (m)

if something goes wrong what about warranty issues? I recall reading somewhere reputable that aftermarket filters often allow much more dirt into the engine.

Yeah this is what I am thinking to, it allows more air in at the expense of filtering. This is kinda' why I am reluctant to do it.

From my understanding when I blew my MAF was if the aftermarket air filters caused it, I will need to pay for the repairs.

Without micron size data related to filtration, it is only an asumption. MAF's have historically failed secondary to over oiled aftermarket air filters coating the hotwire in the MAF itself. This renders the sensor useless to determine the proper fuel to add to the metered air usually causing an over rich mix and rough idle, if any.
