OEM Remote control for COMAND?

Is it true you can get a MB remote control for the COMAND? Or is this another one of those Eurospec things?

It would be nice not to have to play disc jokey for my 4 year old!

For the peeps in the U.S. that are interested....I found out the part number for U.S. version is: 220 827 00 42

My local MB Dealer advised no pricing or availability for U.S. yet.

Lion head said that here

Borrow one, buy a $10 Radio Shack trainable remote and you're all set.

$200 for a remote control borders on "usury"

WTF over?

cool ... but i dont get it. do u reall want someone in the back seat contrling your command.

I find that I dont even use the volume button on the steering wheel 1 inch away from my hands... instead i turn the radio knob. now I'm gonna go in my glovebox/console to get a reomte to do it?

I guess it's the cool factor.

enjoy.

Clearly you haven't experienced the dictatorial nature of a toddler who wants to listen to this song then to that song (And he knows his numbers so he refers to them by number).. constantly asking you to switch thru CD's and songs! :v

This remote will make that his problem, not mine anymore!

In addition to be able to control the CD tracks and radio stations, if you have the built-in phone system, the remote has a numeric keypad that allows the rear passenger to dial the cell phone.

Since I have the rear screen entertainment system, this remote has become a must to control the unit.

Essential with the rear entertainment system, but can the front mic actually pickup rear passengers speaking?

I have to test it again to verify. Recalled having my wife sitting at the back speaking into the mic and was able to conduct a conversation. Again, it was awhile back and I need to reconfirm.

Whichever one is available (1 of 5)
Just picked up my US version of remote control today from dealer. It took about 5 days for the order to come in. The part # of the US version is 220-827-00-42, and the description is PARASITIC STOPPER. Since this is the US version, there is a SAT button. I tried most of the functions (AUDIO, NAV, MAP, TEL, SAT, SER), and they all seem to work. The only problem that I encounter is when I press the AUDIO button, I have no way of choosing CD, CDC, or AM/FM using buttons or keypad of the remote control. I had to press the selection button on the COMMAND screen. Once I choose the CD or CDC selection, I can use the remote control's up and down arrow to select CDs or track. I will take a photo of this remote control and post it in the next few days. The remote control does not come with any documentation, but all the buttons and keypad are exactly the same as the buttons on the COMMAND unit. By the way, the suggested retail on this remote was around $300USD on the parts department's computer screen, but the parts department charged me $224 total.

Here is the pictures of the remote control, keypad closed and keypad open. !! I just figured out how to make selections. There is a thumbwheel between the Vol and Seek buttons. By rotating up and down will highlight the various selections on the COMMAND screen. Once the slection is highlighted, press down on the thumbwheel will make that selection. This is really neat.

For those with US COMAND, the US remote would be better, no?

Steve,

On the side of the remote control, there is a slide switch showing "F" and "R". I assume that it means Front and Rear. It there a rear COMMAND or entertainment sytem that can be installed on the W211, and controlled by this remote?
