Oslo, more info PLEASE!

This is one item that my wife really craves. We have a baby (who sits in the back in a car seat of course), and my wife generally rides in the back with her. She would love this, and I would love the chance to do a little upgrade that I don't have to argue about!

I got it today, and haven't got much time to play with it. I think it's more intuitive then using the buttons on the COMAND. It also have a scroll wheel, much like the one you can get on a PC mouse. You can even click on the wheel to make a Select command. I also found it easier to dial a phone number from the Remote. The only thing I'm not sure of yet: Will the backseat driver take command??

How did you know that there is a remote control available for comand? Is this an option only available in Europe?

I looked over the shoulder to the rep when he searched for it on his puter. It was two versions, one US and one EU. Don't know the difference.

Hi

This was included as an option in the standard UK E Class brochure and price list for £80. Almost bought it then decided it would be of little value unless you have rear screens for DVD. Looks pretty cool though.

Does it operate by infra red or radio waves?

I can watch DVD from the COMAND display in motion. And the backseat driver can scroll through my 1200+ MP3's.

It's probably a lot cheaper in the US. The Norwegian prices are in sane. And remember that you can't compare this to a standard TV remote produced in several 100.000's.

None at all. Inserted the included batteries, moved a switch to F (F=Front R=rear), and thats it!

For the peeps in the U.S. that are interested....I found out the part number for U.S. version is: 220 827 00 42

My local MB Dealer advised no pricing or availability for U.S. yet.

Oslo,

In your post you say you have video in motion. Have you managed to get video in motion re-enabled after the mp3 upgrade?

Also do you have the TV module, if so have you noticed TV text is now available?!

Best regards

James

The first days after the MP3 update, it was blocked while in motion. For one reason or another, I tried it again a few weeks ago, and it was back! I also noticed that the Seat Belt Warning that I asked them to disengage some while ago, and that never worked, suddenly was disengaged. Go figure!

I don't have the TV module. I had it in my former car (BMW E39), and it didn't work very well. But I tried an E-Class in Berlin with Digital TV receiver. Brilliant! No disturbances at all. Crystal clear all the time.

It look just the same as Maybach's remote control except the chrome cover. I don't think the remote is functional under US. version. I will check with part depot.

Based on how the older remotes DID WORK with US COMAND units, it is my belief that the new remotes will function as well.
