Thinking about replacing factory windows to Factory Tints.
Hi. Anyone know if swapping the factory windows to factory tinted windows(Black). Anyone have any idea how much the windows will cost to replace. Or do you think aftermarket huper optik tint is a better idea. Suggestions will be appreciated.

Could cost at least 1K and would involve much dissassembly and fussy adjustments (m)
of your interior. Seems like WAY too much $$$ and potential for trouble for a de minumus "improvement". Try tinting with a REPUTABLE dealer--but do not use metallic film as you'll wave goodbye to your radio reception.

Nope, not standard on my '05 CDI. I just had Huper Optik 40 put on two weeks ago and I'm amazed at the difference. I'm even considering getting the clear film added to the windshield just for the UV/IR reduction. While I could have gone darker than the 40, I'm planning to move further north and I wanted something legal in those states.

That was a link to the '06 specs. Here's the '05 link. There's no tint mentioned. Of course the Interior Features page lists REST, and we all know how *that* turned out.

However, if the OP truly believes that tinted windows are not standard, I would suggest that he post his inquiry to MBUSA.COM and their response.
I note that the '05 specs also don't mention that seat belts and a steering wheel are standard too!

*sigh* If you'll look at the posts, you'll see you quoted me rather than the OP, which suggests your statement about buying an inferior car was intended for me and not the OP. Therefore, I was not replying on behalf of anyone else. The link you provided was not for the model year involved, and in the interest of accuracy I provided the correct one. Further, the inclusion of tint in the '06 details and the absence of it not only on the '05 list but from my window sticker as well raises the possibility that tint was an option prior to '06, at least in the US. However, since the OP did not state the model year of his car, the suggestion that he call MBUSA is valid. I'll attribute the rest of your message as the result of a bad day at work.

Hey guys. Thanks for all your suggestions. Sorry for not replyin it was cuz my internet wasnt working. i Have a 2003 e320 which does not come with tinted windows from mb. I just called up my parts dept. and they quoted me 580$ (back window), 464(Front windsheild) and 90 for the door windows. I'm thinking about going with aftermarket huper optik. If anyone has pictures of their car tinted with huper optik can you please post em.
