Question Did MBUSA buy back your vehicle?

Any and all assistance in supplying information and details for the benefit of fellow members would be greatly appreciated (i.e.: amount offered, process, time span for completion, reason for buyback, initiated by dealer, etc).

The only exception would be those vehicles that were exchanged because of the navigation fiasco in 03.

2004 E Class
They bought mine back

I had a 2001 C class. It went in for repair and when it came home my wife put it in reverse and it went forward!!!! Almost took me out (and no we are still married she wasn't trying to kill me). Turns out they forgot a clip and the linkage came apart.

Anyway, I told them that my wife informed me that she would never set foot in the car again as she was now afraid of it. I pressed for a buyback and got 1. First offer was $35,000. I had paid $43,000 16 months earlier. I fought it out and the district rep upped the offer to $40,000. I ordered a 2003 E, with nav, and they ended up trading that out because of the Nav fiasco. On top of that, when the replacement came in there was a problem, and they ended up having to order me a 2004 replacement E. Which we have now for 20 months and is doing OK, except for a recurring AC problem.

Thats my story.

I myself am working an issue of deceptive marketing with them on the MB-tex trick for the back seat of the '05's.. On their MBUSA.com comparison website it says "Leather" not vinyl.. I didn't expect full leather, but the dealer and their site told me I would have "leather surfaces" or "inserts" and by God, I am demanding them... so they will not likely by-back my car (I don't want to sell it anyway).. but they need to make good on what I was sold!

Total brake failure (near disaster) and the car was replaced for a new one. MB did the right thing without any argument.

I had MB tex in my '95 and it wears like steel. On the other hand, they charge more for leather and "pay back" equivalently if it isn't.

it's not about paying the lousy $1500 for it.. it's about deceptive marketing.. read the MBUSA.com website's car comparison tab info.

MB-Tex and Leather Seating Surface?

CE750, I'm interested in this leather/MB-Tex issue. Can you please elaborate? Did MBUSA claim "leather seating surfaces" on web site and delivered MB-Tex to you in the actual car?
I'm assuming that "leather seating surfaces" means that the portion that touches your "bottoms" and your back are leather, but that the sides of the seats and doors are MB-Tex.

I'd appreciate your clarification. Thanks in advance!

If you go to MBUSA.com and do the vehicle comparison of a CDI with a BMW or Cadi etc... go to the seats and it says Leather..

Now, if you ask a salesman... 9 out of 10 will tell you "Standard" is leather inserts front AND BACK. well, as of 2005, it turns out (and the MB CDI brochure actually says) the rear seats are entirely made of MB-tex..

that is a lie, and I want them to make good on it. I'm working it now, but so far they're stone walling me.

edit: This should be a good link to where it says leather seats are (standard):

I did a bit of digging and after a bit, found a section where it further brakes down each car and only in here does it make it clear that it's just the front seats..

Seating & Trim

Ten-way power front seats, each with three-position memory. Driver's adjustable lumbar support. Driver's seat memory includes steering column and outside mirror positions.

M-B Tex upholstery with leather inserts in front seats.

Leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob.

Hand-polished Burl Walnut wood trim on dash, console, doors, shift gate and shift knob. Polished chrome outlining for wood trim and switch clusters.

Stainless-steel door sill trim.

Velour floor carpeting and floor mats.
But most people will just view the summary comparison where it says "leather standard" and move on from that subject.

What is your A/C Problem? Fans cutting out? I havent had the problem since they did 2 "power" recalls which indicated incorrect voltage & cut off "electric consumers", AND they replaced the fan regulator under the passenger dash twice. Now the fans stay on all the time they should.

My A/C will shut down on its own. I have had my sensors replaced, blower replaced, etc..... While driving, I would turn the A/C on and it would just shut off on its own... with all the lights still on and nothing coming out of the vents.

All of the A/C problems? Are they 2-zone or 4-zone.. cause I've had no problem (2 zone) but I've heard many with the 4-zone are having problems.

check out this MB complaint site:

http://www.mercedes-benz-usa.com/

You may want to ask about what others have gotten for returns.
