atssystems.com is now ATS

It seems the moderators here thought I was using my name as an ad. Sure whatever..

Anyways, just so you guys know.. atssystems.com is now ATS.

I was thinking that maybe they should have changed the name over a year and a half ago.. I think I am in the top 200 posters of all time (out of over 22,000), you would think someone would have noticed..

Back to your regular programming.

If it were related to MB mods, I could accept that your name should not be an ad... but since your selling PC's (yuk!).. I don't see the harm.

Either way, it's their forum.. and they provide it to us for free.. so thanks for that!

With the exception of the TOU which states that you are not allowed to profit, free advertisement in this case, from this forum without being a sponsor. And that includes non car related businesses as well. It may not seem fair to you but at the same time why should other sponsors pay when a case such as this is inadvertantly overlooked and corrective action taken/requested after the fact. Afterall it does cost to maintain this forum we all enjoy. HTH

Its always fair if something applies to everyone equally, which this clearly does. Thanks again for the forum.

Regardless of how long your name has been used, it is STILL in violation of our Terms of Use. So you got away with it for a year and a half, congratulations...shame on us for not finding you. I'm sure you've driven in excess of the posted speed limit and gotten away with it as well...when you get pulled over, do you attempt to talk your way out of it because you had not been caught in the past? More so, as Andy mentioned, the sponsors on our forums are not necessarily ones that cater strictly to Mercedes-Benz vehicles. So REGARDLESS of whether you sell parts for MBZ or dishwashers, commercial advertising is commercial advertising. Whether you were intentionally using your username to advertise your business is not the point, though nobody had accused you of that.

Yes, you have been posting for some time and we all appreciate your involvement and input. You also don't pay to use this site and running this site costs money. More so, our moderators volunteer their own time to help maintain the site for everyone here. Believe me when I tell you their jobs are often not easy. So I take it personally when you attempt to post negative and sarcastic comments about our Moderators because you were finally confronted about violating this forum's policies. Shame on you.

Huh?! Where do you see this?

Honestly I didn't read the terms and conditions when I joined the forum.. So I had no idea.. Profit? I am in Canada and everone here is from the US (a few from Asia and a few from the UK). I probably have run into about 4 or 5 CDN users here in the forum.. Never have I pushed anything on anyone.. And "getting away with something".. Getting away with what? Just to let you know, I personally (only speaking for myself) am in your top 200 posters and never have I bought anything from any of the sponsors (unless Steve is a sponsor? Is he..?).. So you can imagine how much business can be generated here by using a domain name as your user name.. Probably none..

But, like I said.. Whatever.. It doesn't matter to me what my name is, I just wanted to let people know.

For your reference, here is a link to the Forum TOU:
Forum Terms Of Use

Nobody is saying you intentionally did anything. Apologize, bad word choice on my part above.

Hey ATS,

Although I understand, it stinks to have to change your name after all this time. Especially since you have in no manner (at least to my knowledge) pushed your site at all (although I admit I have been there ).

..

The ironic part is that you're probably getting more publicity NOW, with this thread (unintentional as it may be), than with your previous nick.

Just an observation.

BTW, I've read many of your posts, and the thought never even crossed my mind that your nick referred to an ACTUAL website. I guess I just took it as a nick, and that was it.

Anyway, it's good that the rules apply to everybody; unlike those damn HOV lanes! (don't get me started!)
