God bless them! - they sent the PRIORITY OVERNITE!! not even 3-day or 2-day... $900 for the tires/rims and $629 for shipping

I guess it's still cheaper than if I went into the stealership!

very nice! Please post on whether or not you notice a decrease in mileage after swapping to the wider/heavier rolling stock. I'm contemplating buying a set of 17" early w211 e500 wheels (split spoke) as long as it doesn't hurt the mileage too much. That is...if the CDI ever shows up! The trucking company is lagging!

It's a total security fallacy... I have friends in law enforcement and they laugh at that when I tell them, since they know that the only way to run a plate is thru them. ANYTIME you drive behind a car, you have his license plate! I can copy down 100's of people plates today alone..

while its true that the only way to run a plate is through the police department and or DMV. Thing is... do you think there could be a crooked person at the DMV? Been many cases were 20 bucks = your address. Point still stands of why would someone want your address I guess.

But its to totally secure. Its a crooked world!

What would you do with the plate, and then after the trip to the crooked DMV officer, with the address? I live in San Francisco and every other car is moded and parked. What I am trying to say I guess, is that what difference does it make if someone knows where you live? Would they come over and still you car? Well if someone really wants to still something, they will, trust me! And another point, most of my "enemies" do know where I live, but I am still alive and kicking hard :-) SO like the dude say, protect your SSN, DL, CC#s, Bank Accts, etc and you will be fine. I think its a mental thing, people feel exposed on the internet.

But please, do not follow my advice, do what you think is right. I don't want to be responsible for someone's stolen car

Looks nice. Those 17s transform the look of the car - much better IMO. Did you go staggered or the same on all four corners? Please let us know if you notice any degradation in fuel economy with the bigger wheels. Not a big deal but curious.

Well that may be true for your state (and your friends may like to think so), but many jurisdictions' public record laws allow access to this type of information. Identity theives cross it with other info and bingo, you've been hit.

Post it on the internet, and your asking for trouble. I agree with the OP, obscure your plate if you can.

Having represented several identity theft victims, I agree that it's just a simple precaution and good friendly advice! You may pass someone in traffic who can see your plate for a moment, but your picture on the internet is cached forever.

My picture, and my plate will provide nothing to anyone that I need to fear (the CIA, and FBI are two that can do things with them, and I have nothing to hide from them).

The ID theft cases I've heard off all start with a guy taking the rounds on "recycle" day looking for discarded bills, and bank statements. I have a shredder for that.

The other cases I've heard of are when you apply for a mortgage, a crooked loan processor may sell your info to a "friend" .. we had a big bust on that here in the Valley recently.

But I don't care if anyone gets my picture or my license plate.. that's public information to anyone who wants it. I mean, if I were a famous celebrity like Tom Cruise and lived in LA.. do I have to fear a person driving next to me and taking my plate down? For what?

Some people have built in paranoia about the internet.. the internet isn't the problem.. it's the guy going thru your trash! So get a good paper shredder!

BTW... TPA and others.. I challenge you to use the info on my website to get "confidential" info on me.. stuff that's not public.. such as my SSN, credit report, personal finances, etc... AGAIN, not public records stuff that ANYONE can get on ANYONE..

If you refer to the mirrors.. it's about 1.5 hours of labor at most at a dealer.. or Steve and crew can do it for you in the $795 price.

Add some pictures of the front and rear (retrofitted) PTS displays...those were the hardest parts to do

Sam, you HAVE to change the license plates. Take the SAMAHA off the Volvo and put it on your car. Put yours on the Volvo. That is the only thing missing to make it a perfect car.

you don't like the 2 in the MB plate? Why? I wonder if DMV would have a fit if I did that!

BTW... for all of you paranoid types, I did a bit of research on privacy and the License plate... AND.. YOUR VIN is far more likely to lead someone to you.. so cover that up. Check the "off topic" forum for a discussion on it, but in a nutshell, think CARFAX.
