What's Up with this board?

I felt that I had to give my 2 cents here. I've enjoyed reading this forum for a few years. I've not always saw eye to eye with every member here, but never the less I'm glad this medium is here as a resource for MB W211 owners.

My point is, what's going on with these threads lately about street racing, video posting, and my car is faster than yours? Shouldn't the moderators close threads that develop into nothing more than "I won't let the other guy have the last word" type of exchanges or at least move them to the street racing category?

I sold my modded Solara to get away from this very thing. I guess no matter the type of car, this will awalys exist.

Sorry... it's been a bit less than civil on the board lately as well. Mods can only do so much with all of the different sub boards.

I said it before (do a search and you'll see).. post a positive thread, and you get 2 or 3 responses at best.. post a controversial post, and watch the post counts go up!

I did a I love my CDI post about a month ago.. got one reply I think..

However I am now going to try my theory... I'll post a question that arised today when I was getting my w/s replaced due to a rock. let's see what happens.

i had my WS replaced due to a rock and large crack. so far the car has been fine, no strange sounds, and no leaks from brief car washes. the job was done at a mb dealer and i believe cost in the neighborhood of $800 parts and labor.

I think we're mostly talking about one recent thread:

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/119749-w211-being-chased-z4-3-0i-video.html

A lot of us, myself included, have strong feelings about the kind of conduct depicted in the initial posting. The people who engage in that conduct, in turn, don't take kindly to criticism. Nobody does, actually. That's human nature. The problem is worsened by the tendency of some people to act rudely on line even if they are polite in face-to-face interactions, forgetting that real people with real feelings and egos are behind the made-up names. True, the moderators can't catch every overheated thread, but some threads suggest that they might be a "problem" by their titles and by the unusual number of postings they generate. Any thread that's even marginally Benz-related deserves the benefit of the doubt and shouldn't be banned just because it evokes strong feelings. Some threads might be better relocated to other forums, such as "Kill Stories", though.
