I am glad you are okay konigstiger. So do you know if the Merc repair plants over here have the ability to apply the nano or is it the previous clear coat?

Thanks

My car required normal clearcoat since it’s a 03 therefore I didn’t ask this question. I’ll inquire and post the answer – at least as it pertains to the shop I used.

according to the MB Body shot at Phoenix Motor Company, it is not possible to do nano paint AFTER the factory.

Some paint shops can put a ceramic clearcoat on top of base coat (colored paint). I thikn the ceramic clear coat might be the second best thing next to factory nanopaint.

Sorry to hear of the accident and your injury. Glad that it was nothing more serious. Your pictures remind me one of one of primary reasons I bought the E-class -namely being able to survive a serious collision.

Mercedes all the way!
i'm glad you're doing ok except for the shoulder. that E is a tough nut to crack! btw, your headlamps appear to be completely intact - i always wonder how they make it so tough such that it doesn't crack even in an accident.
i had an "incident" where my friend plowed my E into the back of a 30-year old van. the van's rear end and rear suspension were decimated. my E had a misaligned shutline, but again, the expensive xenons were perfectly intact. i was impressed.

Konigstiger, my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

CE750, that's mostly correct, but there are special clearcoats available for work on nano-clearcoated cars. There are 3 or 4 paint systems that MB has certified. I know for a fact that Glasurit has a clearcoat that's specifically designed for application on cars that originally had "C" color codes. I tried to get my dealer's body shop to tell me exactly which one they used when they worked on my CDI, to no avail.

Basically a form of clear-coat that significantly reduces scratches and rock chips. MB introduced this technology just few years back.

Interesting...acrylic, polymer, different stuff mixed in there for the protection? Ah heck, I wouldn't understand it if you started throwing polymer equations and definitions at me anyway. I get the picture.

This isn't just in Arizona. I stopped at a red light in Dallas in my E320 and got rammed from behind. The guy gets out of his truck, with his cell phone still in his hand, and said "Why did you stop?"

He was probably from AZ, they don't stop for red lights here, just crossing traffic.

Lights, what are they good for?
