Full Size Spare Tire
I was never happy with the donut spare in my 05 211. Thanks to someone else on this forum, that showed a full size spare fitting perfectly in the tire compartment, I now have a full size 16 inch OEM spare in my car. Not sure if it will take a 17 or 18 inch. Fits perfectly and allows the protector in the floor of the trunk to fit flat.

Hi jimbo1mcm. If you are talking about the following thread that I participated in, then you are welcome for the information.

The (few) people that are interested in full size spare tires are usually people who like to drive their cars into the more remote places. If you stick to the urban and suburban areas, the compact spare is just fine.
In case you haven't been following tire trends, the way it looks to me is that the luxury car manufacturers are going away from spare tires of any type and towards run flat tires.
By the way, congratulations on your Mercedes diesel fleet !!

I just sold a set of 4 OEM's on 16's and MXV4s for $600.. I thought about keeping the full size spare, but then I realized that in my last 5 cars, I've never once used it... Road side assistance has made that really moot.

You do realize those guys wrote 11 years ago?
If you need donut spare, I am putting full size spare in my 2008 model.
Make me an offer.

You can also try the local junkyards, they probably have a few, although I bet they all have the original tire and the life of a tire is anywhere from 6-10 years.

Donut tires have longer life not only because they have heavier rubber, but also because they don't see killing UV.
Years ago I had 16 years old W123 with original-full size spare.
The tire was still "brand new" looking.
I put it on and for next 3 miles I hear "tap,,tap..tap" while driving. Pull over and saw chunks of thread coming off. Could not replace the wheel at that location, but after "bang" 5 miles farther I had to.
