Should have taken my golf clubs...

to the MB dealership when i bought my E500. I cannot believe that my bag will not fit in my trunk. I have to either take my driver out or place it diagonally, thereby making the rest of the trunk useless. I love everything else about the car though. Split rear seats should not be an "option." My Passat fits the WHOLE set of clubs sideways!

I've searched the forums and can't find somewhere that sells the SINGLE exhaust tips. Anyone know?

thanks

What the heck size bag are you using, a staff bag? My bag fits fine in my e320 without removing the driver fine. i have even had 3 bags in the trunk no problem.

Are these the same clubs that Rodney used in Caddyshack?

Mercedes all the way!
yeah, when i read that my eyes almost popped out - you can't fit the driver in the boot? man, you must have some crazy custom drivers or something!

even my S's trunk, which is smaller than the E, fits at the least 2 bags without issue.

Damn man. I fit three golf bags in the trunks of my E55 and E350. What kind of bag and clubs do you have?

Not golf clubs, but I was surprised that my TravelPro 29" luggage will not fit either.

I have a full set of callaway drivers and irons kept inside a callaway rollaway bag, and they fit just fine. I can even throw in another bag of clubs when i'm playing a round with a buddy.

I guess I'll try again...

I must need to try again or something if you guys are getting 2+ bags in there.

My clubs are fitted, but not long. I'm six feet tall, so the shafts are standard length. Driver is standard 45in Big Bertha. And the usual PING stand bag. I am sure that it doesn't fit though unless I put it diagonally.

Am I really that 3 dimensionally challenged?

My dear departed '97 BMW 528i had a little plastic tag velcroed to the inside trunk lid lining that illustrated, of all things, how to fit four, count-'em, four, golf bags in the trunk. The trunk was quite a bit smaller than the W211's, too. Maybe the M-B engineer who designed the flip-out cup holder on the butterfly console can be called upon to do the spatial analysis for fitting golf clubs in the trunk optimally.

My 540 had the same little tag, but I think it was three bags. You had to follow the diagram because it took advantage of the little "cave" by the right quarter panel. I'm sorry Ramphaus, my bag fits fine but I do have to put it in diagonally. I've been able to get two bags in together this way without removing the drivers. The last time I travelled with my clubs, the big airline bag wouldn't fit so I had to stick it in the backseat. Didn't matter. With all the wife's luggage, there wasn't much room in the trunk anyway

I'm sure you're right; my unresolved grief over the loss of the 528i is probably causing my memory to exaggerate the virtures of the dear departed.

I share your pain! Our '00 528i was the best street car we'd ever owned, save for its lack of power. Its many problems in the first 50K miles, however, convinced me that it wouldn't be wise to continue sans warranty, and BMW offered no extended warranty as does M-B.
