Had my first problem today. don't know if its going to be a major issue, but while driving today, the SRS malfunction light came on, haven't heard anything from the dealer yet. will know tomorrow.

has anyone encountered such an issue, and if so, what was the problem

thanks

Had it happen three or four times. It went away after a day or two every time. Had so many MFD warnings of all varieties that I basically ignored them after while.

Think of your as being like a Windows computer. When it gives you a goofy warning - most of the time a "restart" generally takes care of it.

Did you get the red light in the dash drive it to a service center warning? I and a few others have had that and the fix has been a new watch spring in the steering column. They can fix it in half a day.

Check your "Messages" section on the MFD. If the warning's not retained, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah its the SRS malfunction display and it says drive to service shop. and yes the warning stays in the message box. haven't heard from the dealer yet, i'll let you know what they say later today. BTW, what clock spring in the steering column are you talking about? thanks

More than likely the sensor (steering column) needs to be replaced. Believe it or not many CLS models were shipped from the factory with defective sensors producing the very same malfunction.

I just read my old posts and it's actually a "clock spring". Here's some prior posts. For better or worse, you're not alone

connector problem

clock spring

the service advisor just called and said that the culprit is the SRS module, which they are replacing. Meanwhile they also fixed a recall with something he called a battery control module.

Ah, something different for the SRS warning. Do a search of the forum for the battery control module recall. There have been problems after it's done.
