Driving lights Dealer calls them fog lights

Driving lights Dealer calls them fog lights

Nevertheless, I have a 03 E320 Sport. A few ago the diffuser on the left light
fell off and now this week the bracket on the right side broked off. Does anyone
know if this is cover by warranty?

YES, warranty will replace the complete light fixture. I've had this happen to both of mine. I repaired both of them until my dealer sent me the new ones. They are easy to remove and repair if you chose to do it yourself.

Thanks for the info. Dealer wants $120 each, claims I broke the lights by hitting
something when in fact the lens isnt crack nor damage. Freakin dealer " AutoBahn
Motors " in SF Bay Area is the worst place to have your car service.

The lights and the temperature sensor can be damaged if you drive up on something that hits the area under the lights. If you don't have any scratches in the plastic under the lights you should point that out to the dealer.

Where is the temperature sensor anyway? I rode thru a few (5) orange and white plastic construction zone barrels at 65 MPH & tore out the left fog light & some other under carriage plastic parts. (as well as the bottom of the inner wheel well fender, some white plastic plumbing parts & knocked the the lower center grille out of the bumper, and left 2 wires dangleing... 1 was obviously for the fog light) Before I went to the body shop, i noticed that the temp guage in the cluster read 185 degrees.

Safe car, easy to get back off the left shoulder & back onto I-684. Glad there were no guard rails. $100 deductible collision, $3500 damage in total (which today is nothing!), 1st claim in 26 years. Waiting for the rate increase.

I keep a $2000 deductible on my cars as I have a been bitten once with filing a $3000 claim, only to pay it back in droves over the next two years! Heretofore, I will only file a claim in excess of $5000... otherwise, I self insure below this mark!

Barry,

The temperature sensor is in the top part of the black plastic panel next to the driver's fog light. Your sensor may be floating around in the belly pan and picking up the heat from the radiator and engine. The sensor itself was about $25 and the black plastic panel was about $6 for my W210.

I service at AutoBahn Motors. They are one of the best in bay area. SF Dealer has terrible service.

Just ask to talk to shop forman, his name is DAVID and explain to him your thing.

They have replaced both foglights under warranty many time on my old 2000 E-430

It's a common problem on 04 & 03 W211s............Bill

This was the same dealership who sold me a defective painted (rear passenger
door) E320. Which dealer would do that?

I am not saying it is the best dealership, I am just saying it is one of the better once in bay area.

which sadly isn't saying much.

MB Dealers need to take a few lessons from Lexus. Here is in inferior car brand that has better customer service and quality than the worlds greatest car brand. Doesn't add up.

Arrogance much like our very own shoemaker, damn I keep doing that, I mean Schumacher. Do you know if Mark Szendzielorz (SA) is still there? He jumped ship from Chandler a while back. Hell of nice guy.

I actually saw Werner Schumacher the other day (I was there for oil on Mon) .. seems like a nice enough guy, but a bit distant and removed from his operation. His kids are running it now, and I'm sure they're not cut of the same cloth as that old man. They struck me as bean counting types, not concerned with issues like customer service.

That said, I got great service from Mike on the Blue Team... the fired the idiot that I had the snafu with over my car last time... I was told, mine wasn't the first time.. and replaced him with a nice guy on the Green Team (forget the name).

I've been tempted to drive to Chandler to see if it's better.. but I keep wanting to give Schumacher a chance since they're only 20 minutes away vs 1 hr.. Except for the fact that they washed my car (even though I have a standing request not to), they did ok this time.



BTW.. try to make it into Dynocomp tonight if you have the tine... going to be a bunch of RennTech people there I think.. and a few of us forum members as well...

Word on the street is if it weren’t for their old man they both would be digging ditches! I can tell you a bit more that stretches back to their relatives in NY but you haven’t earned that yet.

I know the one wanted to be an archeologist, is that what you're talking about digging ditches? OR were they trouble makers?

I'll say this, the old man was an impressive figure.. reminded me of Albert Speer of WWII fame.. I guess he came out here in the 60's with no English and worked at a VW parts dealer before he got on his feet... His dad was an MB dealer in Germany apparently.
