Was there a recent transmission update for 7G?
I just brought my E500 for essentially the first time after 1 1/2 years. I only have 7300 miles on it, but had a Service C call. I was anticipating bringing it in at 10K, so I changed the oil at 5.2K. Got a whole 2000 miles on my Mobile 1 oil change. Oh well.
Anyway, I noticed that the transmission is now much more responsive when stepping on it, and from standing starts. There used to be very noticeable (and annoying) lag when dropping down gears. Seemed to be 2 seconds or so. Now it is much less.
Was there any recent TSB or something? I wonder if mine was wrong from the beginning perhaps, and they just fixed it?
Thanks.

However it tends to fix itself over time.. as it learns your driving style. It took the better part of a week for the E350 we got to quit lurching off the line everytime we added power.
But if you find out there is a software update, I'd be curious to hear about it.

That must be it. Great find Hell ona Harley! Not sure how I missed that post? Must have been too busy playing with our new TV.
I've always kept it in sport mode, and consider myself a lead foot. I guess all the traffic here is overriding my kickdowns overall. Hell if this is it, I'm going to reset it every week at least.
Thanks

Hey Cal.. Let me know if over time it goes back to the old learning style.
I think when they do updates of any kind, which should show on your bill (no charge) the computer reboots and it has to relearn all over again.

Hey ATS,
l thought I gunned it enough to have it adapt to max performance. Only 7 miles to and from work, but I floor it at least 2-3 times each way. Apparently the traffic jams, and the city driving dominate the adaptation.
I will drive it two weeks before resetting the tranny, and see if it degrades. Love the responsiveness increase . Reminds me of the SL500 I demoed at the Loves event. Not worried about the gas mileage.

I think that all AMGs, 4-Matics and 320s (CDIs and gasoline) have the 5 speed. Most 500s and all the new 350s (RWD models) have the 7 speed.
I might be wrong, but there are tons of variations.
