Search coplete: Ok, whats the deal with the Blue tint?
Can it be put on after the car is purchased or am I SOL? It was not a option on the CDI and I really like it.

The blue tinted windows are the main reason I didn't have mine tinted with film. They do cut some of the heat, but I like them because they are unique. My understanding is the blue tint is part of the actual glass, it isn't a film that can be put on afterwards. The glass is made by PPG and is called Solextra. You can read more about it on PPG's website.

It comes with the Appearance package in the US and on the E55. I actually don't like it because I want to tint my windows with a black film. On my CLK it had the blue glass and the black tint didn't come out how I wanted it, true black. It had a slight metallic look to it because you saw the glass first from the outside which had the blue in it already.

the glass is actually blue.... in fact, on the pewter car (or gold colored cars)... the glass is gold-green colored.....
I believe that it might only be on E500 cars...or cars + with the appearance package (or sport) and of course AMG... my father has an 04 E500 that has the gold tinted windows (and his is none of the above).
I tinted my windows (to keep it cool for my dog in the back), and I was concerned that I would lose the "blue" feel... but with the silver paint, ash interior and the med black tint... the blue feel still comes through... so not all is lost.
