strange brake vibration in E500

hello,

I bought a used 2003 E500. Sometimes when I hit the brakes, I notice a rumbling vibration in the pedal and in the floor. The sound isnt very loud, but its noticeable and sounds a bit like a bowling ball rolling. Ocassionaly this happens even when Im not pressing the brakes but just slowing down normally. Any idea what it is? It happnes occasionally

With SBC, they say you will not feel warped rotors. The first thing that comes to my mind is front thrust arm bushings.

While you're at it, make sure all SBC recalls and TSB's have been taken care of.

Did you buy it from the dealer and are u still under warranty? Probably so. I take mine to the dealer and tell them "look, just fix it for free in less than one business day." I don't think it's our jobs to find out what's wrong. They have the tools, I think they should figure it out and fix it. Just my 2 cents. Good luck to you.

my 2003 w211 e500 is that vibration too, i check with MB they said it normal. It is from the SBC box in the engine bay. After you use SBC application for 3 times, it realise (i think the SBC presure from the SBC box) that give you the vibration. my other friend W211 is also get the same situation. So it doesn't bother me that much.

hey if you can w211 can fix, can you let me how please.

Generally, warped rotors cause the steering wheel shake, not just the noise itself. He did not mention the steering wheel vibration.

actually the steering wheel vibrates..but just very slightly..you cant notice it unlesss you look for it. I figured that was normal. Also today I noticed that the vibration is also present in the gas pedal (but much less) during normal driving. It almost feels like just normal road vibration, but there is something different about it. Again, it happens only on occasion. I am going to take it to the dealer regardless, but I have a feeling its going to be hard for them to replicate the vibration since its not frequent.

im sure its not the SBC. I tried stepping on it 5 times and the vibration I got from the SBC is really soft and uniform. The problem I am having is more of a rumbling vibration..feels like a rough street, but it happnes on any surface and is different in that its only in the pedals.

I doubt it...I just went and test drove a friends E500...nothing. The SBC vibration is more of a buzzing feeling. What Im getting is a rumbling. Today I noticed it not only in the pedal, but also coming from underneath the foot well. It happens now even if I dont press the brake pedal but just slowing down normally. Gona take it to the dealer next week...but I have a feeling theyre not gona feel it since it happens on occasion. Plus even if they do, I doubt they wil find the problem the first time around. I dont have time to keep taking it back to the shop .

actually, i just got back home and it's more of a buzzing feeling, but it only lasts when i have my foot on the brake, and only for 1-2 seconds.....so is that what you're experiencing? Im guessing your problem is much more blatant?

so is my buzzing normal because of the SBC? I'm not used to having any buzzing/rumbling on any car, so im hoping this is normal since my car is practically brand new?

Remove and properly re-torque your wheels. Your problem could be caused by some knucklehead that put the wheels on with an air gun.
