Also, yes you can add Xenons (not the washers tho'), and you can *easily* add nav. Get the 500.

a) I paid $2000 to add HK (after the fact) as they have to replace the amp in the rear of the car (100W vs 430W w/fans) and also add a sub woofer in the rear of the car.. plus remove/replace all other speakers(8 locations w/12 speakers). You end up with 13 total.. The magnets on the stock speakers look like peas next to the HK system speakers which weigh about 4 times as much, they are also made of a synthetic material (cone) rather than paper.. The sound difference is on the order of several magnitudes.
Bottom line, the HK system is years ahead of the stock system, and IMHO should have been standard on this car for that price.
b) I find the washers totally useless out here in AZ, and on my Volvo they do more harm than good (get fluid all over my hood, and w/s).. So Xenons w/o washers is a plus for me... the dealer can do it for less than 2 hrs labor + parts (retail almost $2000).
c) NAV cost me $1700 to add w/ dealer.. I should have demanded a discount, but I didn't as I was naive at that time (about a few things).

I got this from here: http://tutorials.beginners.co.uk/fin...rticle/insauto
Raise Deductibles - The higher the deductible, the lower the premium. When a policy owner maintains a larger deductible, it means that he or she is willing to cover more of the cost of the damages, reducing the risk to the insurance company. Of course, if the policy owner doesn't have the cash to cover small damages to the car, it makes sense to keep the deductible low. But the basic idea of insurance is to cover high-cost, low-probability events, not the minor expenses that fall within the deductible.

E500 4matic mpg
I have an E500 4matic equipped exactly as the one available to you. The window sticker indicates mpg of 16/20 (city/highway). On 250 mile non-stop trips I regularly get 26+ mpg. After nearly 16,000 miles, my overall average is about 22.6 mpg. I am running 32 psi on all four tires instead of the recommended 29/34 (front/rear). I installed a Garmin c340 hardwired to the lighter socket. The c340 has an optional real time FM traffic feature that I am considering. You can also download traffic camera POI locations. The factory NAV system may have a cleaner look, but, it will quickly become outdated compared to aftermarket gps units which offer significant improvements year over year. If you plan to keep the car a long time, I don't think the factory NAV system is really a good value. Especially if it ever needs to be repaired/replaced.

But wait there is more - salesperson says how about a leftover 2005 E500 4matic with MSRP of $64,970, my cost of $51,970, with heated seats, sunroof and cd player options. Mmmm.... V8 I start thinking. But there are pros and cons:
Pros- faster (but not that much), all leather, air suspension, 4 zone climate control, what else?
Cons - no NAV, no upgraded stereo, no bi-zenons, $1,300 gas guzzler tax (included in above numbers) and lower gas mileage, what else?
All opinions welcome!

I had a choice of a similarly equipped e500 with and w/o HK so I took the HK already in but no incremental cost over non HK vehicle, the nav and Sirius are easy dealer add ons. I also wanted xenons but dealer really didn't want to add so jacked up price and wouldn't deal on that. Other stuff (Sirius, Nav, ans some BS stuff) was a throw in plus every available discount. I'll probably add xenons through the MBZNL guy who is so well regarded (and IPOD). I highly recommend the built in Nav, it is way neater than add-ons but more expensive. My 2001 also has original nav and although screens and graphics, storage, has improved it still works great for me. I'm a cheap sob and would still do it every time. I also like the newer system in my 2005, I just drive that car less. I'm also a big awd fan and highly recommend.
