lowering & new wheels...
no info other than it can be done through star diagnostics (SUNMAN) on the forum can do it.
curious - what rims did you get? How did it impact the ride quality, any pics?

Just got my E500 lowered through the mercedes computer (star diagnosis). It didn't lower it to the point where handling was effected. I as well put 19" wheels on my car and the lowering gave it a beautiful stance. I think this method is the best since it is fully reversible. I just recommend getting an alignment afterwards. You will have to tell the person aligning the car not to change the height. Some mercedes benz dealers will do the lowering for you.
There is a minimum and a maximum allowable setting for the car and I had mine lowered just to the point where the car will not give any error message. This was approximately 1"
The ride surprising stayed the same, at least nothing noticeable. Still smooth and not bumpy.
I'll post pics as soon as I get a chance.

Any options for people that aren't fortunate enough to have airmatic?
I wish I would have done a bit more research on all the options available before I purchased!!

It will cost around 180 bucks to have a mercedes dealer technician do it for you. Try contacting a local dealer in your area and see if they will do it for you. It only takes about 15-20 mins.

the guy's that did mines, raised the car on the lift, took out the brackets connected to the leveling sensor in the front and one in the rear, cut reweld them shorter, snap them back in place , lowered the car, then start the car and let the airmatic adjust itself and the car was lower. basically fooling the sensor in thinking the lower stance is the stock height. all in all, took 15 minutes. they have done allot of s class this way as well. as far as how low, the rear fender is right above the tires, the front is about finger and a half. this is with stock 17" rims.
i have a 03 e500.

Lowering springs give me bad memories of my MR2 days of diminished ride quality and loss of "oem feel". I would hate to do that to my w211 but I could only imagine that doing a retrofit of Airmatic would be a costly procedure. Any ideas on cost?
