Canadian E500 pricing is out
81,000.00 CAD Canada Dollars = 50,923.51 USD United States Dollars
pretty well priced.
the E320 was 69 something
69,000.00 CAD Canada Dollars = 43,378.85 USD United States Dollars
all the option prices where on this sheet my dealer gave me too....i can scan the sheet for u guys tomorrow if u want. The options seemed REALLY inexpensive..
Beltfed, a member here and on acura-cl.com said that the NAVI will not be available till the first quarter of 2003. I researched this board, and quite a few people said the same thing.
BUT
When I went to the dealer today, he told me that the navi is a FACTORY option only, and if we order a E500 now, there is NO WAY we can get Navi on it...can someone enlighten me? My dealer checked this with quite a few people and they all said the same thing. Whats going on here?
We are going to order a E500 this saturday, anything i should know?
Thanks
Amir
$51k sounds a bit cheap for the U.S market (that would make it $3k cheaper than the outgoing E430), but then again who knows since the E500 only includes leather, 4zone climate, airmatic, and metallic paint (if chosen)- everything else is optional.
guys, cars are cheaper in canada than in u.s.
look for yourself, compare prices from carpoint.ca to carpoint.com
every car seems to be atleast 3k u.s. cheaper in canada after conversions.
anyways, i'l post the sheet i got from my dealer tomorrow.
check out 2002 e class prices at www.carpoint.caguys, cars are cheaper in canada than in u.s.
Oh, well that certainly explains it......I didn't know that

Also make sure you get everything in writing as much a possible just in case there's a mis communication. Good luck and congrats!
Everyone in Canada pays 7% GST on all new cars.
Here in BC we pay another 7.5% PST.
Then you have the luxury tax on top of that.
i think what bora is trying to say is, since we have to pay tax...mb sells the car a little cheaper here to even it out with cars sold in the u.s.
First to do it you need to know someone with an address in Canada. Canada Dealers (Any that I have spoken with inc. Ford, Honda, Nissan, MB, Audi) are prohibited to do business with someone they know will import the car directly to the US. They do this to stop people from buying cars in Canada and importing them to the US.
Second NAFTA will not apply if the car is new, you have to pay importation tax on the car into the US as the car is made in Germany and therefore will not fall under NAFTA. The M-class however falls under NAFTA so there is no tax on it. Used cars pay no importation tax in to the US. This is why you used to get a discount when you would get European Delivery, the car was used then and there was no importation tax. Now MB pockets the money
99% of cars meet both US and Canadian std, (because Canada has tougher std.)the one you will deal with is with the little fact the odometer is in Metric rather than English Standard, On a car like MB that are digital, most dealers can switch the odometer over to English Standard. The Speed odometer must also have MPH on it as well as KPH, so if the KPH are big numbers and English Std are little numbers your fine, if there is ONLY KPH you need to have the cluster changed. You’ll need this form http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/Can0206.html
Third Warrantee, MB has not done it yet, but Honda/Acura Warrantees are non- transferable from Canada to the US. And more changes are expected. The best thing to do is hire a registered importer (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/...Ilist0206.html); they usually charge $750-$1000 and will do all the paperwork and everything for you. You just pick the car, pay for it and they will import it. Also if it is a used car, you can pay either Canadian GST or your states sales tax, you only pay one. (you do have to pay GST when you buy the car, but if you prove you paid tax on it in your state they will refund it.
I have a Cousin who lives there and my Uncle has imported a car, took about a 3 weeks and he saved about $5,000 on his Nissan Maxima. Also options are different in Canada that in the US, they usually have more std features, but there may not be many options available, and sometimes they have options not available on US cars.
Do you homework before you jump into it, if you don’t know what you’re doing it can end up costing more than if you just bought the car here.
Hope this helps
