Question Poll... W211 with stock grill & star or CL style..

Here it is, with all of the recent threads I've read on the grill being swapped out and the star on the hood removed, I have to ask the members their view...

Feel free to rant in the thread, or just post your view in the poll quietly.

how about flat hood badge and original grille? I had the CL grille/flat hood badge for a week and am getting ready to put the grille on ebay. I like the flat hood badge and original grille. Add this setup to the poll as it seems to be a popular option as well.

I tried to edit the poll, but for some reason I can't .. I'd just put yours under the second choice since it's not the "stock" look of the first.. That's where I'd put it at least.

I have the flat hood badge and the stock grille. I removed the standup emblem because I thought it was (a) not in keeping with the hunkered-down styling of the W211, (b) pretentious, and (c) distracting - it was in my line of sight when driving. Needless to say, I don't have and wouldn't have a CL-style grille, so I'm not voting in the poll. If somebody else likes the standup emblem and/or a CL-style grille, though, that's fine with me. Each to their own.

Personally I prefer the standup star, it helps me with guiding the car into parking spaces but most important, I just like looking at it once in a while driving. Clean and Buff it and on a nice day it sparkles.. The standup was and always has been on the mercedes lineup of sedans with the grille being on the coupes and sport models. I can't see pulling the plug, going flat and swapping out the grille IMO..

<<<======= Another vote for the flat badge and stock grill! I don't like the hood ornament because I honestly think it belongs on an older model Benz (like in the 70s & 80s) plus I didn't want to risk some knucklehead scratching up my hood as they steal the ornament. Don't like the CL grill either because of that big star in the center. Way too many circles in front, which starts to remind me of the Olympic logo.

the CL grill with the star is butt freaking ugly on the W211. Looks sad. too self indulging. now if you could get it without the star, id be all about it. i vote for flat hood badge and SPORT grill (5 lines, black trim). looks the best.

this poll is turning out a lot more in favor of the modded grill that I would have ever guessed from reading the latest threads where members post pics of their car with the cls grill... interesting.. In the real world, I've never even seen one W211 with other than stock grill and ornament.

Can I vote twice. I actually like both stock and the CL Style look. That's why I have the S500 and E320 4matic with the stock grill and the E500 with the CL style grill. Best of both worlds.

They both look good, but it's just hard for me to tamper with a design like the W211 and not make it a net minus... If I owned two I suppose I'd think of doing it.. or if it were an E55 or something..

sorry. looks bad. problem is that there are way too many circles going on in the front of an E class. doesnt fit the car. cheapens the tone.

not as bad as the douche i saw driving with a 99 s430 and AMG badges all over it.

I have the CL-style grill and the flat ornament. I can see where Brav is coming from with the "too many circles" but I don't think it cheapens the look of the E. Some days I love it and some days I love it less but I still think I would do it again the exact same way if I had to choose.

The Aftermarket Grills do NOT fit good take a GOOD look at one on the car.. also grab a lower corner...Most are a CL grill cut down..The Hood release is Moused..I have NOT seen a Quality aftemarket grill..Thats why I made my Own Starless grill for the W203 and R230...

Go with the W211 E 55 Black grill with a flat badge...OE parts fit!

I have an MB brilliant silver CL sytle grill with silver inside the star circle if anyone wants it cheap. My girlfriend likes the stock grill, so there's that. And I agree with her... so the CL one has to go...

Im right with you there Kev..the big star is for the coupes, not on the big chunky w211...i do like however the brabus type grill on the car. I know its a mercedes...dont need a big thing on the front of it to announce it.

Wait for a better grill

The 07 S class has the mb badge embedded in a slight recess at the top of the grill. I would expect the new E Class to have it also. I think the sheetmetal will be the same for the hood. Quick swap out for a really nice grill.
