If I go with a Euro Command will my AM go to hell?

I listen to a lot of am here in SoCal for traffic...640, 1070, 790 to be exact...will I still be able to get these stations if I go with a Euro Command (so I can get DVD function)

Absolutely. With the Euro COMAND, AM stations are still available. If my recollection serves me well, you can select either FM or MW and MW is AM stations.

Hope this helps

I just tried mine. Hit the AM button and it switched to Khz frequency. Scanned through the stations and got a lot of talk radio! Typical AM sound quality, but yeah it works!

sure it works...the actual radio sits in the trunk of the 211s and does not get swapped out when getting a euro comand installed

Nothing MB related (sorry)
The Euro CD-rom comands have 'issues' with AM. Not severe, but the stations tune in differently compared to US spec units. (9 KHz vs 10 KHz).

Guess that is what you have been reading.

Hi BigSis,
Is there a CD-ROM based Euro COMAND for the 211? I thought the first European COMAND's for the 211 were fitted in estate cars? These were DVD based with version 3 DVD's?

In Europe AM or MW is not popular and we all listen to FM, so it is possible someone was critical of MW reception??

Regards,
John

No, there are no CD-rom based comands for the W211. I was just referring to the CD-rom comands in general (Euro specs) for the W203s (pre facelifted), W208s, W209s (pre facelifted), W210s...

Hmm, should have been more specific in the first place...

You can buy it from anywhere you want. As long as you get the correct model number. There's a thread that gives u a break down of all the different model numbers. The only thing is the risk you take from buying from someone on FleaBay. I installed my eurocommand unit in less than 10 minutes.

thanx alot if you can help me with that.

Kevin, technicall speaking yes. If you're ordering it from EU, the settings should be set to default to play video/mp3 already. Well at least mine did.

? 2006 US to Euro swap

Does anyone know if you can switch the US Command for the Euro command in the 2006 ML. And if you can will the Nav system operate the same. Also is Nav disabled when watching dvds as there is only one slot of the DVD?????

In Europe the ML has a totally different system to the 211. If your ML does not have a dedicated navigation DVD slot then your system is also different.

Sorry about that,
John

Hi Kosher,
You are talking about the English Riviera

Cold, misty, overcast and strong winds, but apart from that.........

It's nice speaking to you

Take care,

You made me google map Torquay!

Now that I am more geographically knowledgeable, I see you are truly the tick on the dog's rear in the UK. If this were the fifteenth century, we would think you were about to fall off the map!

We try to educate our colonial friends although I must confess in recent times we have failed miserably!

The south-west coast, just like the rest of Great Britain is steeped in history. Brixham, which forms part of the English Riviera is where Prince William of Orange and his invading army landed. Then of course if you head further westward you come to Plymouth which was a major point of departure for our 'undesirables that we booted out. I believe these cheeky chappies bought education or should that be edukayshun (I have difficulty with American spelling ) There the Mayflower Compact, the first democratic document written in America, was composed and signed.

On a more serious note, the 'dog's rear end' is in my opinion a very beautiful part of our very small island and tends to have a more mild climate compared to other 'less fortunate' areas. Palm trees and other tropical type plants which grow all year round in our gardens perhaps being proof of this.

Please take this post in the spirit it is meant, it is just a friendly response to being called the dogs do-berries

Take care and have a nice day,
Yours very sincerely,
John from 'sunny' Torquay in South Devon

Well received!!

John, I had actually just seen a documentary on the William of Orange invasion. I found it quite interesting. Just as I did finding out where Torquay is.

Greetings from Sunny Orlando, Florida!!!
