Tire doesn't want to come off
Hey, I put my car on jackstands and took the lugnuts off. I went to pull the tire off and it wouldn't even budge. I even tried hitting it from the top and bottom. With a rubber mallet. Anybody know if there might be something in the middle of the rimwhere the star emblem is??? I tried seeing if I could take it off and reveal maybe another nut or something but no luck.... or could it just be corroded to the rotor?????

Tires
Spray some WD-40 on the inside of the wheel. Do it a few times over a couple of hours. Then get a bigger hammer. There are no other screws holding the tire on.

I normally use penetrating oil for this application. Rust will form between the flange and rim. I know you don't want to hear this but sometimes a good smack with a 2# hammer can break them loose. I don't know what type of rim you have aluminum, steel, magnesium,, but before you use the hammer. Try the penetrating oil. Then if possible a little heat on the flange/rim part. Bring the temps to about 140 to 150 and it might break loose. Of coures don't burn the paint or anything else. 140 is very hot coffee temps.
Best of luck Jim

Success!!!!
Hey. got it off.... I used a slightly modified 5 minute method. ready??? Took a cheater bar and pried between the brake brace and the rim... POP!!! came right off. Painted a light coat of anti-seize on the inside of the rim so that won't happen again.
But now I have another questionthat's off topic... I took the tire off mainly to see if I can do the brakes on this baby. The calipers were your classic calipers and used hexnuts so that's set... and the brake pad orientation was actually alot like the one on my sisters pontiac grand am so I think the pads will be easy as cake to take off as long as I disable the SBC. But here's the dillemma.... I saw that the rotors are the old school type where they are the hub/bearing assembly like in a 1985 caprice. And they have a special locking nut on the flange... But this is a luxury car with smooth *** handling that I don't want to f%%k up. So my question is, does anybody know if you need a torque wrench or some other tightening tool to put the rotor back on and soyou don't screw up the ride... This is why I love sealed bearings, you can't go wrong I mean I've tightened the bearings on a '85 caprice before but it was anything but perfect... it was just all feel. Anyone know how they tighten it back up at the dealer???

Yep... had the same issue on my 02 E320 with my 18" AMG wheels. Rust collects on the lip of the rotor where the rim mounts for centering. I put a coat of white lithium grease and never had an issue again. As stated, not a big issued but a swift kick to the left or right side of the tire will usually knock it off.... Funny how little stuff like this becomes more work...

hmmmm, I wonder if maybe my rotors are just so corroded to the hub that it just looks like they are part of the hub/bearing assembly... I took a look at an actual pic on eBay and they look like normal rotors....

Nevermind... the rotors are just discs... They were badly corroded onto the hub making it seem like it was part of the hub/bearing assembly. Took off the screw then Whacked em off with a hammer

Recommend you have your tires rotated and balanced about every 5,000 miles in the future. Many places do this for free for life ot the tires you buy from them. If you do this, you won't likely be bothered with sticking wheel rims and should also see better tire wear.

Don't touch your brakes unless you diconnect the SBC, otherwise, serious injuries can occur! Do a search and you will find the procedure to disconnect the SBC. You also need to change the rear pads. Due to the SBC, the rear brake pads wear our just as fast as the front. Whereas, most other cars, the rear ones last almost twice as long as the front.
