SBC issues resolved

When i bought my 05 e320 4matic 8moths ago , the sbc brake pump noise vibrating while sometime driving and after starting the car drove me crazy, but after reading all the post on here about it i figured it was normal. Well i just got my recall notice yesterday and brought my car in this morning. It was only suppose to take an hour, the service manager comes up to me and told me there were problems with sbc pump also. Well 4hrs later i get my car back with ABSOLUTLY no noise whatsoever from the brake pump or motor or whatever. The service guy told me this so common with Es w/sbc and there should be no noise from it. So for people that think that noise is normal , i dont know. Its warrantied go get it looked at.

Thanks for the post. I've been told by the dealer the same thing - ie, noice is normal. My car is going in on Thurs. for the recall. I will press the issue.

Did the dealer ask about the footprints on the inside and outside of the driver's door when you returned the loaner?

Personally, I would kind of miss that grumbling/buzzing sound when I open the door if it went away. Sort of a Stuttgart "Willkommen" ...

So did you look at the paper work to see what they did?

The recall does require that the SBC hydraulic unit be replaced under certain conditions. Curious, what part number is listed for the replacement unit installed on your invoice?

I happened to see that part in the dealer, a new pump line with a mini-silencer hook-on it, the sbc pumping noise is then gone.

It takes time to drain & fill the brake oil and hook the new silent pump line up.

can't wait to get my recall notice, if I'll even get one. I've complained to two different dealers about this noise and they all say it's normal. I am sick and tired of going into dealer and deal with these morons.

I just took my 2005 E500 in for the 6000 mile tire rotation and I told them the brakes make noise.
I was out of town when the dropped the car off and the notes said the noise is 'normal'.
Funny thing is ONE DAY after they dropped the car back off at my house the recall notice shows up.. you'd think they would have done the recall service while they had my car.

They said the same thing about the front end shake I get occasionally. Response was "Tires get flat spots from sitting".. uh.. hmm.. the stock tires so bad that after sitting for 1 day they flat spot??
I also have harsh shifting on the 7 speed.. "normal".
Low audio volume on aux, CD and CDC.. "normal" (I guess this one is by the looks of it).

Also kinda sad that when I take my Jeep GC in for an oil change, they at least vacuum the interior. Not the Benz.. guess that costs extra.

Hmmm it seems like the dealers aren't really going out of their way to notify people about this because it sounds like more of an issue with ride and noise tolerance... they prolly figire if the brakes are still gonna work, we'll just do the ones for the people that complain. They prolly don't want to waste money fixin everone's. I think I'm going to be one of those people who complains though, I got the car sittin at the dealer right now anyway. RYNZ 00 CLK do you know if the problem with your SBC pump was the main reason for the recall?? or was it the noise? Maybe you brought it in for one thing and they found somethin wrong on top of that

If you do them as needed then it is possible to do everyone while they wait.
