Why the "REST" button doesn't do anything?
Has anyone tried working the REST button on the HAVC? I was pressing it and holding it for several seconds and nothing. Since I asked becuase on my previous E320 W210 works, and it displays on the Climate control screen, showing you different things, such as Engine Temp/ Battery Voltage charge/ Speed and so forth. Why the W211 doesn't do anything? Am I missing something or is there a purpose there if it doesn't do a thing?

A/C smell TSB
A good soul on this forum posted the latest TSB's, one of which describes, in detail, how MB is required to get rid of the musty smell( aka mold) in your A/C system.

I really like this feature in both hot and cold weather. If it's cold, you can hit it when you for a short time into a store and come back and find your car still warm. I've heard they have taken this away with newer models as part of their "decontenting".

BenzVinc's question was about getting read-outs after pressing the REST button, which I was also able to do in my former vehicle (MY 2000). That is, by pressing and holding the REST button (while the car is running), you could get a read out of the inside cabin temp, and presumably other things as well. My 2005 211 still has the REST button, and interestingly, I was just thinking about trying this the other day, but got side tracked and haven't done so yet. I'll try to remember on my way home tonight, to see if it does/doesn't work. This was a special function, in addition to it's primary function, which is to heat the car after the engine has been turned off.

The W211 does have this functionality, but it is not the REST button that does it. It is some other combo of buttons. As I recall, you can get tons of information about the car through this.
