If I recall correctly, the 03 E had an option for the Pano Roof - the option included Solar Cells which would draw sunlight for power which would then run your ventilation system to draw hot air out of the car...
Anyone have this option?
Anyone know if this can be retro'd?
Thanks!!

I have it on an '04. works well in sunlight. I believe it was discontinued for cost reasons. While anything is possible retrofitting may be costly.

pano roofs were available WITH and WITHOUT solar panels...retrofitting solar panels is possible when a car already has the non solar pano roof but that is expensive and a rather waste of money (due to the limitted gain you get out of it)...adding a panoroof to a non panoroof car is a def no go.

I've got the pano with solar cells and i live in a place where you can cook an egg off the hood of your car!!
Hehee.. although that's a little exaggerated it's close, I live in Dubai where summer days can soar up to 50C (125F)..
To tell you the truth, I didn't notice it until I drove my wife's C200K.. It definately felt more hot!! But then again the colour could've been a factor (my car's white, hers is black)
Either way it looks fancy, I once had a group of people gather around my parked car discussing the solar cells

I have it - will never keep your car cool, but my car is never hotter than ambient. many times when its 90 outside, it can be 110 inside. if you get in and dont start the car, you can hear the faint noise of the fans blowing and feel it.
Another reason why 04s are the best

Thanks for the experiences!! That was going to be my next question - how well do they work?
Guess this explains why MB discontinued them...
