A/C unit loud?

A/C unit loud?
In my 2003 E320 when the fan is on position 1 (lowest), I can hear a noticeable drone. When I turn it off the car is super quiet. Is that how you guys' A/C fan is or is it just mine? Car is under warranty still so I might as well get them to fix it.

If by "drone" you mean an electric motor sound, or mechanical sound, I don't hear that. All I hear when air is blowing out of the vents (at any speed) is the sound of the moving air itself.

Yeah there is a very noticeable droning noise that isn't the sound of air blowing out. It's definitely sounding like a motor humming. thank god for warranty!!!!

Nah, just messin' with you. The noise is common. Good luck getting a dealer to fix it though. Some folks on here have had it fixed and some have not, I'm in the latter group. I am currently working directly with MBUSA and DTLA Motors to fix it so I will let you know (especially since you're in LA too, I think).

I just went to the dealer. He said "Well sure we can check it out, but it may be leaves that are stuck in the pollen filter, which is in the glovebox, so if that's the case, we gotta charge you it's not covered underwarranty and that'd be $140"
I told this nig, to just go and check it out and it surely doesn't sound like that's the case. *****. May 17th is my appt.

I dont have a drone, but on the lowest 2 speeds I hear a noise as if the squirrell cage blower is rubbing on paper or leaf debris. If I had to guess, I'd bet its rubbing on a little piece of insulation material thats out of place in there.

I have the loud drone as well. Seems to only appear when the blower is set higher than 3 bars. Its unfortunately loud at those settings. The sound I'm referring to is not air blowing through the vents, but rather a noise coming from the AC unit or blower motor in the engine compartment. Thoughts?
