Anybody with H/R springs want to trade?
I have the Eibach Pro Kit for my w211 and was seeing if anybody has the H/R springs that may want to trade? With my current springs, i think the front could be a little lower .... I know some people have said they thought the front was tooo low with the H/R springs ... If you're local or want to ship and trade, let me know.

Hey john..
There's another solution to the ride height if you're not happy with it (too high at the front in your case and too low in mine).. You can actually just change the rubber shims that support the springs. As far as I know the default shim thickness is 13mm and you have the following range:
5mm, 9mm, 13mm, 17mm, 21mm,
So technically, you can lower your car down a further 8mm at the front simply by using 5mm shims.. As for me, I already ordered the 21mm shims for my front springs which should set it 8mm higher than it currently sits.
Hope this helps you avoid going through the hassle of selling/trading your coil springs. I actually heard that your Eibachs are better than my H&R so keep them!

... and is it easy to install? Will it require another wheel allignment?

And no i don't think you need any form of alignment
If you want the codes, I currently have the ones for the rear ones but I think if you go to the dealer, they can figure out the front ones too. They are actually for an E240 Elegance but I don't think the springs differ (unless your vehicle is an Avantgarde/Sport). Use this as a guidance only
A211 325 01 84 (5mm)
A211 325 02 84 (9mm)
A211 325 03 84 (13mm)
A211 325 04 84 (17mm)
A211 325 05 84 (21mm)
But remember these are for the REAR shims, they won't fit your front ones since the springs differ too.
Let me know how it goes and please send me some before/after photos of your car, I'm pretty much sure your Eibach would look much better after this adjustment
P.S. Let me know if you get hold of the front shim part numbers

Called the dealer and the parts manager told me the front and rears are the same????? He said they were $10.81 each (not a bad price).
Can somebody confirm this? I gave him the part number listed but said the computer show the fronts are the same as the rears on the E240 elegance.

I actually ordered the part# mentioned above but when I took the car to get it installed, the mechanic said it was the wrong shim/washer and wouldn't fit the front (he claimed it was for the rear).. I was a bit suspicous because he literally had no hydraulic car lifts free and had to manually jack up the car..
I couldn't pass by the dealer to check the part number as I had to leave that day and I won't be back home for another 3 weeks or so..

Seems like the only difference is the sixth number (321 vs 325) between the part numbers I quoted and the ones you provided.. Interesting, are these part numbers specific to an E320?? Because this difference could be due to one of two things:
(I) Model (E240=325 & E320=321). This would mean that all shims (front/rear) are the same, so for an E240 you would order 4x "325" , similarly for an E320 you would get 4x "321".
(II) Difference in Front/Rear (Front=321, Rear=325). This would mean that the spring/shim setup on the E240 & E320 are identical. So for either an E240 OR an E320 you would order 2x "321" for front and 2x "325" for rear.
If you could please clarify this last bit I'd be eternally grateful HEHEhehe

Yes. The part number I quoted are for the w211 03-and up ...... I'm having problems confirming what the rears are... but from what the parts manager told me, the rears and front use the same shims (same part number).
He even mentioned if I didnt want to go with the hassle (since the shims are just rubber material, you can usa a table saw and do a clean cut to what ever size you wanted.... just make sure the bottom portion of the shim is what you are going to keep since it has grooves where the spring would insert in to and the top is just flat)
Let me know if you find anything else out.

I assume, to do this you'd have to go through with removing the coils and replacing the shims right?
I've never replaced springs on any benz b4, are the E pretty easy to do?
Thinking about getting H&R

Ok just came back from the dealership, bought a pair of shims for the rear but they said there is no separate part number for the fronts. I gave them the part number listed above and said it was correct but only for the rears. Can someone tell me if the front has a differant part number. The dealer even gave me a print out of the parts diagram but not number was available.

Trimming shims????
Trimming the shims with a table saw sounds extremely dangerous. Plus I would not be surprised to find a locator pin on the shim to properly position it.

Front vs rear shims
I am not convinced that there are front shims in a W211. The R170 SLK which does not have front struts has front and rear shims. The R171 SLK with front struts only has shims in the rear. Changing the front springs is probably the only way to change the ride height with the factory strut.

makes your daughter horny
Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm looking to raise up the front of my car by using a 21mm front shim. According to this thread the part number should be 211 321 05 84 (21 mm) but I haven't been able to find the part anywhere online and my dealer said he didnt have that part number in his database.
Anyone have any insight? Someone in this thread said they were actually able to order this part.
Thanks in advance,
-Will

Anyone ever figure this out? As far as my research goes (and wasting $$ on a million different shims). The OEM spec shims are the only ones available for the front. There are some shims with different part numbers but they are absolutely identical.
Has anyone actually replaced their front shims with different ones? Id like to hear from you!
Thanks,
Will
