Desert Silver or Pewter

I ordered a E500 which should arrive in late October. I got desert silver/stone. Now I'm thinking I should have gotten Pewter/Ash.

Thoughts? Does anyone have pictures of each color? I like both colors just not 100% positive I made the right choice

I was facing that exact same decision a while ago Rayscar, whether to go for Desert Silver w Pebble beige or Pewter Silver w Orion grey or Pebble beige.

Here's my reasoning.

I loved a color called Smoke Silver but they discontinued it and replaced it with Desert Silver. The problem is I find Desert a little too goldern/pinkish beige in some light especially with the Java interior, but as there was no other alternative ( I didn't want Brilliant Silver) I thought I would just accept it.

Then when I ordered my car I was told of a new color being released called Pewter.I saw a swatch and it was very similiar to the old Smoke (not so goldern, more grey with a little brownish tone) and loved it.
Because I am getting the Elegance with the Burr Walnut trim I am chosing the new Pebble Beige interior which will contast the wood and the Pewter. I am not a great fan of grey leather interiors, they look a little cheap to me as the grey leather reminds me of cheap vinyl shoes.

As yet I have only seen the color on the photos on the forum but I am sure I have made the right choice.

The clincher for me was an article in CAR Magazine UK which says the E Class is a very color dependant car,the only color to avoid is the "grandfather beige" as it makes the car look like a Hyundai Sonata.

NO THANKS!!!

i am a fan of the new pewter color also. i have seen the swatch in the new (big) brochure. i am set on the charcoal interior, so i will decide on the pewter or brilliant silver once i see the two colors in the flesh.

I have a desert silver Ewagon. It looks good on the wagon. I saw a S in the showroom in this color, and it looked kind of "old man" buick in Desert Silver. I think it kind of makes the car look smaller and faded. IMO.

Pewter is a great color, I never liked Desert Silver. Looks like a combination of beige/tan with a hint of gold, not for me.

Changing to Pewter

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I'll be changing from Desert Silver to Pewter at least i hope so. I just ordered the car on Monday 8/12 so i would hope it is not too late to change colors. I've tried to contact my dealer but he has not called me back yet.

Just got back from my dealer. I now have pewter/stone. Almost went with ash interior but decided I liked the way the stone looked with the wood trim (I don't have the sports package so the wood trim is not black). Now I just have to wait and see how it looks when it arrives in October!

i'll let you know how it looks rayscar because i did get that exact color combo and mine should be arriving early sptember. i ordered the sport before i knew it came with the black wood so i'm actually a bit apprehensive how that will turn out.

Honestly, I think its going to look really good.....I have an 03 Jaguar S-Type R brochure and they show a Stone color interior (which they call "Sand") with black maple wood on the dash and doors and it looks great. The wood looks just like the MB wood.

The lighter interior appears to brings out the wood better vs. having a charcoal interior (which would make sense).

I seriously wouldn't worry about it, a Pewter Sport with a Stone interior and Black Bird's Eye trim sounds like a winner.

I think these pics can give you an idea of how a Stone interior w. black wood can look.
