What are you all getting for MPG for E350? I just got a 2006 E350 Sport and my MPG is terrible. 19 Gallon tank and I'm not even getting 330 miles (hw + city) a tank!

I average a combined 21-22mpg. Thats highway/city driving.

On a trip from south Florida to Dallas, I averaged almost exactly 27mpg.

When i lived in south Florida with city driving, I was getting around 18mpg.

I get anywhere from 19-21.

I'm not sure why you're so surprised. The car is only rated at 19 mpg, and as we all know, that's under optimal city driving. Turn on your AC, get a little heavy on the gas, and the city mpg could easily be down around 16-17. Did you not research the car before you bought it?

My 320 gets about the same. Rarely less than 20 mpg around town and up to 29 on the freeway. Air is always on and the ride gets "goosed" to get around the SUVs with women drivers talking on their cell phone with kids in the back seat and NOT paying attention to anything around them . But I digresss . . . even my 600 stayed in the high teens until it got "goosed" and then, well . . . that's what a V12 is all about!

gas mileage is one of the highest in the nation , we pay 3.57 - 3.65 this week in Lower New York....thats for supreme. My v4 10-year camry takes regular and dumps 30 mpg on city driving..

Well then you should have bought a Camry. When I had my E350 I got 30mpg on a single trip from LA to Sacramento. In the city I was averaging around 20mpg. Seems pretty normal to me for a car that weight 3500lbs.

I just filled my tank up last night for the first time, the clock reads 480 miles and I bought the car with 50 miles on it. So I guess it ran around 400 miles on a full tank.

If gas mileage on a car was a big issue with me, I'd probably opt for a diesel over a Jap car. The E320 CDI would be a good pick.

The highway mileage on this car is rated at about 27 mpg so if you got 30 on a trip, you were doing very well!

I'm at about 17 mpg with mostly city driving, around 22 mpg mostly highway. Hope it improves as the car breaks in.

Your 10 year old camry has an inline 4. No car imported into North America has a V-4, actually I'm pretty certain that a V-4 doesn't even exist. And comparing a 4 cylinder with around 150 horsepower to a 268 horsepower 6 cylinder is a little silly, how do you expect a car with 118 more horsepower that weighs more to get the same or better gas mileage?

Saab imported a Sonnett with a V4 into the States in the late 60's, early 70's. One of my friends had a red one. It was quite an interesting car.

I have a e500 4matic w/ 24000 miles on it and constantly get 20-22 mpg w/ 70%hwy, 30%stop/go...

Have the E350 Sport as well and I'm getting 19-21mpg. Could do better if you change the transmission to Comfort mode (C). I am having so much fun with this car - I was very calm during break in, but have been driving it like I stole it ever since. Once I calm down, I can get a more accurate read on the MPG. I work out of my house so I don't have a consistent commute to track the MPG...I'm running stop light to stop light.

City driving I average about 16-17 but on a recent trip from LA to Las Vegas I hit 30 mpg while doing 75-80 the whole way. I was surprised, but happy, to get 30 mpg while driving at nearly 80.

that 7 speed transmission plus DOHC, and other marvels built into the drivetrain help a lot. I kinda miss the E350.

E320 with 32 PSI in my 18 AMG wheels. 25.6 MPG! (mostly highway and no AC)...

Try 35 psi all around. It should make a big difference.

Yea, close to the same story here with my 04 e500 with over 30,000 miles..... averaging nearly 19 mpg city and a high of 27mpg on the long hauls. Not bad for a V8

2006 E350... non sport. I am getting about 20 mpg as an average... but... It does get sideways and nice burnouts with a V6... I can only imagine what an E55 will do... burnouts must be awesome... HaHHAHA

Gas mileage is not on my top 10 list.

did I mention burnouts... hahaha... I have a 70 Vette that is essentially a large go kart... I can get sideways on three forward gears and a little "chirp" in fourth... Wouldn't it be great to get a little "chirp" in SEVENTH? muhaaaa.

Gas mileage isn't a factor for me... it is all about performance/luxury/price/fun factor. And yes... I am a 35 year old child that refuses to take life too seriously... have fun!

When I read a post like parkums, it makes me hope that fuel costs stay at least in the $3-$4/gallon range for at least another year to get people like parkums (people sensitive to fuel price) to put fuel economy as a higher priority when choosing a car and educating themselves about fuel economy and what to espect from those EPA fuel economy ratings before they buy. I don't think it is a coincidence that GM is dropping the H1.

Addendum: Consumer Reports posts their real world mpg findings when they test cars. It is a real eye opener when compared to what the EPA figures are listed as in comparison. I don't wish you ill parkums; it is just that much learning requires pain.

I'm not sure I understand you point. Why do you wish people get "educated" about the EPA fuel economy ratings by paying higher prices in gas? I too wish the MPG listings were "real world" rather than optimal, and I wish that people would better educate themselves on all aspects of a high dollar purchase. I just don't agree that we need high gasoline prices to achieve this.

As for GM dropping H1s, I really don't think the cost of fuel was that much of a factor (although it could have been the straw that broke the camels back). When you start getting into 6 figure vehicles, I don't think MPG is that big of an issue. I think it had to do more with high value SUVs becoming more "sporty", and less "utility" in looks.

I'm averaging 22.5 MPG on 40 mi. commute from Thousand Oaks to Beverly Hills, 30 miles of freeway, 10 miles of surface streets, all heavy traffic. I leave the trans in Comfort as the downshifts are much smoother. I'm enjoying the performance and economy of the little V-6! We just ended our lease on an '03 BMW540i Sport, and went to the E350 due to the higher gas prices as of late.

no offense...but... if I ever purchase a car because of MPG... take my license away. The way I look at is... as stated in another post... if the gas is too expensive... maybe the car payment is too...

Can you imagine buying an E55 and not drive it due to MPG? Sorry, it is not something I considering when looking at a new vehicle. I bet my 70 Vett gets 12 MPG. What is the saying... "I pass everything but a gas station"

For those MPG aware, good deal. But a Benz is not the way to go... maybe a VW TDI or Honda Hybrid. Hey... I hear the Hybird can do burnouts! heheheh

Back to the original question. I have a 5-speed 4-matic that I think does quite well. If I drive it strictly in town in the winter (letting the car warm up long enough to drop below 1000 rpms before putting it in gear which is about 1 minute). I get about 20 MPGs. This is about the worst driving I do.

Otherwise, with summer tires and little warm up time I get about 22 around town. On highway trips when I can keep below 90 MPH, I get a solid 29 MPGs with summer tires. If I drive with snow tires and a ski rack then it drops to 24 MPGs.

On some rear occasions I have actually averaged 32 MPGs on one tank. All highway and not driving faster than 65. In the end, I think that the EPA rating for my car is quite accurate. 18 city and 24 highway. Seeing that I never drop as low as 18 MPGs my driving habits must be in line with the test simulation.

It should also be noted that I don’t drive slowly either. The E350 is supposed to get better MPGs than the E320 because of the 7-G transmission, but the minute you compare an E350 4-Matic with an E320 4-matic, the E320 4-Matic gets considerably better mileage since they are both using a 5-G transmission.
